Noor Muhammad Mulki
30/01/1938 – 29/05/2017
Noor Muhammad, born on January 30, 1938, in Mulki’s Bottu family, was a beacon of light for his community and beyond. His selfless service, devoid of discrimination, earned him admiration far beyond Mulki’s borders, resonating even along National Highway 66 (then Ra.H.17). Noor Muhammad’s influence spanned political, social, and religious circles.
Married to Rukia, daughter of Ainkan Bele Monaka Yane Abdul Khader of Mangalore’s esteemed “Paunaraga” family, Noor Muhammad epitomized leadership and community service. His legacy continues through his son Shahada Noor, who resides in America with his family. Though he may have passed on, Noor Muhammad’s impact remains immortalized in the annals of Mulki’s history.
He was a political leader of great integrity and dedication, never seeking personal gain but instead pouring all his resources into serving the Congress party. His influence extended to the state level, earning him the respect and friendship of both state and national leaders. His leadership qualities were evident in the numerous positions he held, from serving as treasurer of the Dakshina Kannada District Congress to being involved in various governmental and public institutions.
Beyond politics, he was deeply involved in community and interfaith initiatives, contributing to the Beary movement and promoting harmony among different religious groups. His philanthropy extended to donating hundreds of acres of land and property for charitable causes. His passing on May 29, 2017, marked the loss of a true leader and humanitarian.
