Abdullah Nayapatna

1920 – 1968

K. Abdullah, born in 1920, was the son of Izhuddin alias Iddin Mukri, the first Muazzin of Kandat Palli, Kudroli, Mangalore. Despite completing only up to the fifth standard due to poverty, he married Aminamma from Nayapat, Someshwar Uchila, and settled in Uchila.

As the father of two sons and three daughters, K Abdullah started a branch of the well-known Sadhu Beedi company in Uchila, earning the nickname “Sadhubidi Abdullah.” Despite limited education, he was known for his eloquent Urdu and love for Urdu poetry.

Though not affiliated with any political party, K. was respected across party lines for his advocacy of individual support. He was fond of collecting pamphlets and reading news aloud to the illiterate, and enjoyed Mukesh’s songs.

In the beedi business, K. Abdullah earned a reputation for quality control, earning the nickname “Basi Adbhuta” due to his frequent admonishments against spoiling the beedi leaves. He was also known for his religious devotion and ability to resolve complex issues through Raji Panchayats.

K. Abdullah passed away in 1968, leaving behind a legacy remembered fondly by the people of Uchila. His son, Abdul Rahim, later became a prominent figure in the Beary community and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
