M.D. Abdul Jabbar was born on July 22, 1962, in Dompa near Mallur to Abdul Rahman and Maryam. He completed his education up to the 7th standard at Falguni Senior Primary School in Mallur. Initially involved in the textile business, he later worked as an auto driver and contractor. His interest in public service led him to become an active member of the Congress party, where he eventually served as the Mallur Zone Congress President and Gurupur Block Congress General Secretary.

In addition to his political activities, Abdul Jabbar was the president of Navodaya Yuvaka Mandal (R) and Junior Best Club (R) of Mallur. He also held the position of president at Demmale Badria Juma Masjid in Mallur. His dedication to community service saw him serve as a member of the Mallur Gram Panchayat for ten years. He was later elected as a member of the Mangalore Taluk Panchayat from the Ulaibettu Taluk Panchayat Constituency and subsequently became the unopposed president of the Mangalore Taluk Panchayat. During his tenure, he oversaw several projects, including irrigation initiatives and housing schemes for the underprivileged in Mallur village.

Locally known as “Jabbaraka,” he was well-connected with state-level political leaders. Apart from his political work, he had a keen interest in cricket and volleyball and was involved in social services like “Jeeva Dhvani.” One of his notable achievements was organizing a record-setting blood donation camp in Mangalore City Hall with Congress leader Muhammad Badruddin.

Tragically, on May 16, 2003, Abdul Jabbar was killed by miscreants in the Mangalore Taluk Panchayat office. He was known for his competency in resolving panchayat issues and community disputes.

ಮಲ್ಲೂರಿನ ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ರಹ್‌ಮಾನ್-ಮರ್ಯಮ್ ದಂಪತಿಯ ಪುತ್ರನಾಗಿ ಮಲ್ಲೂರು ಸಮೀಪದ ದೊಂಪ ಎಂಬಲ್ಲಿ 1962ರ ಜುಲೈ 22ರಂದು ಜನಿಸಿದ ಎಂ.ಡಿ. ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಜಬ್ಬಾರ್ ಹೆಚ್ಚೇನೂ ವಿದ್ಯಾಭ್ಯಾಸ ಪಡೆದವರಲ್ಲ. ಮಲ್ಲೂರಿನ ಫಲ್ಗುಣಿ ಹಿರಿಯ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 7ನೆ ತರಗತಿವರೆಗೆ ಕಲಿತಿದ್ದ ಅವರು ಜವಳಿ ವ್ಯಾಪಾರ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಬಳಿಕ ಅಟೋ ಚಾಲಕನಾಗಿ, ಕಂಟ್ರಾಕ್ಟರ್ ಆಗಿ ಬದುಕು ಸಾಗಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಜನರ ಸಂಪರ್ಕ ಸಾಧಿಸುತ್ತಲೇ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಪಕ್ಷದ ಸಕ್ರಿಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತನಾಗಿ ಸೇವೆ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದರು. ಬಳಿಕ ಮಲ್ಲೂರು ವಲಯ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ, ಗುರುಪುರ ಬ್ಲಾಕ್ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದರು.
ಮಲ್ಲೂರಿನ ನವೋದಯ ಯುವಕ ಮಂಡಲ (ರಿ) ಮತ್ತು ಜೂನಿಯರ್ ಬೆಸ್ಟ್ ಕ್ಲಬ್ (ರಿ)ನ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಜಬ್ಬಾರ್ ಅವರು ಮಲ್ಲೂರು ದೆಮ್ಮಲೆ ಬದ್ರಿಯಾ ಜುಮಾ ಮಸ್ಜಿದ್‌ನ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿಯೂ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದರು.

ಮಲ್ಲೂರು ಗ್ರಾಮ ಪಂಚಾಯತ್ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿ 10 ವರ್ಷ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಉಳಾಯಿಬೆಟ್ಟು ತಾಲೂಕು ಪಂಚಾಯತ್ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಿಂದ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ತಾಲೂಕು ಪಂಚಾಯತ್ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿ ಚುನಾಯಿತರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಬಳಿಕ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ತಾಲೂಕು ಪಂಚಾಯತ್ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ ಅವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಮಲ್ಲೂರು ಗ್ರಾಮದ ನೀರಾವರಿ, ಬಡಜನರಿಗೆ ವಸತಿ ಸಹಿತ ಅನೇಕ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳು ಅವರ ಅಧಿಕಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದಿದ್ದವು. “ಜಬ್ಬಾರಾಕ” ಎಂದೇ ಊರಲ್ಲಿ ಗುರುತಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ ಅವರು ರಾಜ್ಯಮಟ್ಟದ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ನಾಯಕರ ಜೊತೆ ನಿಕಟ ಸಂಪರ್ಕ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್, ವಾಲಿಬಾಲ್ ಕ್ರೀಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದ ಅವರು “ಜೀವಧ್ವನಿ’ ಎಂಬ ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವಾ
ಸಂಘಟನೆ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ನಾಯಕ ಮುಹಮ್ಮದ್ ಬದ್ರುದ್ದೀನ್ ಜೊತೆಗೂಡಿ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಪುರಭವನದಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಖಲೆಯ ರಕ್ತದಾನ ಶಿಬಿರ ಸಂಘಟಿಸಿದ ಕೀರ್ತಿಗೆ ಪಾತ್ರರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
ಪಂಚಾಯತಿ ಮಾಡುವುದರಲ್ಲೂ ನಿಸ್ಸೀಮರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅವರನ್ನು 2003ರ ಮೇ 16ರಂದು ಮಂಗಳೂರು ತಾಲೂಕು ಪಂಚಾಯತ್ ಕಚೇರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದುಷ್ಕರ್ಮಿಗಳು ಹತ್ಯೆಗೈದಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ಪತ್ನಿ ಆಯಿಶಾ ಆನಾರೋಗ್ಯದಿಂದ ಕೆಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ನಿಧನರಾಗಿದ್ದು. ಏಕೈಕ ಪುತ್ರಿ ಆಬಿದಾ ವಿವಾಹವಾಗಿ ಪತಿಯ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
