Born on 20 September 1941, B. M. Basheer Ahmed hails from the serene village of Kolachikambala, Mulki. Coming from a modest background, he rose through determination, discipline and dedication to become one of the respected legal and social personalities of the region. Notably, he was the first graduate in his family, a remarkable achievement during that period.
His father, B. M. Abdulla Gazani was a well-known contractor engaged in construction activities and also served the community in religious capacities as a substitute for the Imam/Khatheeb in conducting Khutbah and Salah at the Mulki Mosque. His mother, Beefathima was from a reputed family of Mulky Bottu House. The family atmosphere of discipline, faith and public service greatly shaped Basheer Ahmed’s outlook towards life.
Educational Journey
B. M. Basheer Ahmed pursued his early higher education at Government College, Mangalore, where he completed his PUC and later earned a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree.
Driven by a passion for law and justice, he moved to Bangalore and completed his Bachelor of Law (B.L.) from the prestigious Law College, Bangalore. Further strengthening his academic credentials, he also obtained a Diploma in Labour Law & Administrative Law (D.L.A.L.) from Madras Law College.
His educational accomplishments reflected not only academic brilliance but also a vision to serve society through law, administration and ethical leadership.

B. M. Basheer Ahmed enrolled as an Advocate in the Madras High Court in 1966, marking the beginning of an illustrious legal career spanning several decades. He later practiced as a lawyer in the Mangalore courts and earned immense respect for his integrity, legal acumen and commitment to justice.
Apart from legal practice, he served in several important administrative positions including:

- Administrative Officer – Qanbar Dywidag, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

B. M. Basheer Ahmed was married to Fathimabi, daughter of Judge U. Hammaba, and they are blessed with four children – three sons and one daughter.
His eldest son, Abdul Salam Althaf, is an advocate by profession, currently running a business in Muscat. His second son, B. M. Mohammed Ashfaq, is an interior designer in Bangalore, while his youngest son, B. M. Mohammed Arshad, is employed in a Multinational Company in Dubai. His daughter, Haleema Ansam, is married to Abdul Gaffar T.P., a civil engineer, and they reside in the UAE.
After the demise of his wife Fathimabi, he married Zubeda.
