Ahmed Bava Musliyar Ullal

1942 – 2019

U.M. Ahmad Bawa Musliyar was born in 1942 in Ullal as the fifth son of Idinabba and Khadija. Following his primary education, he embarked on his religious secondary education at the Dars conducted by Tajul Ulama Ullal Thangal at the Ullal Center Juma Masjid.

Even during his student years, he exhibited remarkable intellectual prowess and showed promising signs of becoming a renowned scholar with extensive knowledge in various aspects of Islam. After completing his studies at Ullala Dars, he pursued higher education at the Deoband Darul Uloom.

Subsequently, he continued his educational journey at the Bakhiyatu Swalihat Arabic College in Vellore. UM Ahmad Bawa Musliyar entered the field of religious service as a professor at the Ullala Syed Madani Arabic College. Over the years, he served as a Mudarris at various locations including Ullal, Kannangarh, Bajpe, Uruvalu Padavu, and Mogral Puttur, contributing significantly to the education and guidance of numerous scholars in society.

Later in his career, he returned to serve as a professor at the Syed Madani Arabic College in Ullala for an impressive span of 56 years. Throughout his tenure, UM Ahmad Bawa Musliyar played a pivotal role in the propagation and dissemination of Islamic teachings in Ullal, leaving a lasting impact on the community.

Shaikhuna Ahmad Bava Ustad exemplified nobility and integrity throughout his life as a revered scholar. During his tenure in Ullala, he demonstrated remarkable humility by never demanding a specific salary from the Jamaat Management Committee, instead graciously accepting the remuneration offered by the Ullal Dargah Committee.

His presence at various events and gatherings in the Ullal community was cherished by all, and many families would eagerly invite him to bless their household functions. Countless individuals recall the special blessings bestowed upon businesses and homes inaugurated with his prayers.

Ustad possessed extensive knowledge in various interpretations of the Holy Qur’an, profound insights into Islamic jurisprudence, and the ability to elucidate Shariah rules with ease. He was renowned for his commitment to truth, honesty, and humility, always speaking the truth regardless of its consequences.

As the founder president of Karnataka Sunni Jamiatul Ulama, he played a pivotal role in establishing the first Ulama organization in Karnataka, laying the foundation for its development. Later, he was honored with the position of honorary president. In recognition of his fifty years of dedicated religious service, he was bestowed with the prestigious “Tajul Ulama Memorial Award” by Grand Mufti Sultanul Ulama of India, A.P. Abubakar Musliar Kantapuram, during the historic Ullala Uroos ceremony in 2015.

A year prior to his passing, he resigned from his professorship and equitably distributed his wealth among all his children in accordance with Islamic law. He left behind a legacy of fourteen children, including six daughters and eight sons from his two marriages. Notably, six of his daughters are wedded to learned scholars. Additionally, he had four adopted sons. Ustad Ahmad Bava Ustad passed away on May 7, 2019.
