1825 – 1910

Born in 1825 in Aathur, Koyla village of Puttur taluk, Athoor Abubakar Haji was the youngest son of Ahmed Kunhi and Salmamma. Known for his good deeds, Abubakar Haji’s reputation extended beyond Athoor to many surrounding villages. He lived near the Muhiuddin Juma Masjid in Athoor and was a dedicated farmer, owning around 54 acres of land in Bolumbuda. He was admired for his simplicity, honesty, and pious lifestyle. Abubakar Haji undertook the Hajj pilgrimage twice, traveling on foot, earning him respect as an ideal and pious man.

Abubakar Haji was married to Halimamma, and together they had four sons and four daughters. Despite his wealth, he led a humble life, embodying the virtues of a true pious person. He was known for his adherence to the Prophet’s teachings and lived without causing harm to anyone. He passed away in 1910 at the age of 85 and was buried near the Muhiuddin Juma Masjid in Athoor, where annual ziyarats are held during family reunions.

On May 26, 2013, the 5th generation descendants of Abubakar Haji established the “Marhum Haji Abubakar Family Welfare Association (re) Athoor-Hafwa Family.” This organization was created to preserve the memory of their ancestor and to strengthen family ties as the joint family system transitions to nuclear families. N. Ibrahim Jedarpet was the founder president, and Muhammad Kunhi Jogibettu is the current president.

The association has identified more than 4,000 descendants from hundreds of families spread across Bengaluru, Hassan, Kerala, and other parts of the Atoor region. The family members gather annually on the 19th of Ramazan to observe the passing of Abubakar Haji through Khatamul Qur’an recitations, Tahlil dedications, and Iftar Sangam programs.

The association actively supports various social causes, including the marriage of poor girls in the family, education for economically disadvantaged children, and assistance to family members undergoing medical treatment due to accidents. Additionally, they have undertaken the project of constructing the Abubakar Haji Memorial Hall. The family boasts of many professionals, including doctors, engineers, lawyers, and teachers, involved in various fields.

An annual family reunion is organized, facilitating interactions among family members. The event includes study camps, talent awards, various competitions, and other activities. They also conduct door-to-door visits, install family member introduction stickers, plan religious programs, and publish newsletters, commemorative issues, and calendars. The talented individuals in the family are honored, and various programs are organized to foster a sense of community.

The “Hafwa Youth Wing” has been established to engage the younger generation under the Hafwa Family umbrella. Additionally, a non-resident committee has been formed to include family members living outside the region. On March 23, 2019, the Talent Research Foundation of Mangalore recognized the association for its exemplary social service and its role in inspiring family and societal unity.

ಆತೂರು ಅಬೂಬಕರ್ ಹಾಜಿ ಎಂಬ ಸಾತ್ವಿಕ ಗೃಹಸ್ಥ!

ಪುತ್ತೂರು ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಕೊಯ್ಲ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಆತೂರಿನ ಅಹ್ಮದ್ ಕುಂಞಿ-ಸಲ್ಮಮ್ಮ ದಂಪತಿಯ ಕೊನೆಯ ಪುತ್ರನಾಗಿ ಅಂದಾಜು 1825ನೆ ಇಸವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದ್ದ ಅಬೂಬಕರ್ ತನ್ನ ಸತ್ಕರ್ಮಗಳಿಂದಾಗಿ ಆತೂರು ಪರಿಸರದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ ಆಸುಪಾಸಿನ ಹಲವು ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿರಪರಿಚಿತರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಆತೂರಿನ ಮುಹಿಯುದ್ದೀನ್ ಜುಮಾ ಮಸ್ಜಿದ್ ಬಳಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅಬೂಬಕರ್ ಹಾಜಿ ಅಪ್ಪಟ ಕೃಷಿಕರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ಬೊಳುಂಬುಡ ಎಂಬಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು 54 ಎಕರೆ ಜಮೀನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಸರಳ ಸಜ್ಜನಿಕೆ, ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕತೆಗೆ ಅವರು ಹೆಸರುವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಎರಡು ಬಾರಿ ಕಾಲ್ನಡಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ಹಜ್ ಯಾತ್ರೆಗೈದಿದ್ದ ಅವರು ಸಾತ್ವಿಕ ಗೃಹಸ್ಥರಾಗಿ, ಆದರ್ಶ ಪುರುಷರಾಗಿ ಗುರುತಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರು.

ಹಲೀಮಮ್ಮ ಅವರನ್ನು ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅಬೂಬಕರ್ ಹಾಜಿ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಮಂದಿ ಪುತ್ರರು ಮತ್ತು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಮಂದಿ ಪುತ್ರಿಯರನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಅಬೂಬಕರ್ ಹಾಜಿಗೆ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಸಂಪತ್ತು ಇದ್ದರೂ ಕೂಡ ಐಷಾರಾಮಿ ಬದುಕು ಸಾಗಿಸಿದವರಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಂದಲೂ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಮಾತು ಕೇಳಿಬರುವಂತೆ ಅಪ್ಪಟ ಸಾತ್ವಿಕ ಪುರುಷರಾಗಿ ಜೀವನ ನಡೆಸಿದರು. ಪ್ರವಾದಿ ಚರ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರತೀ ಕ್ಷಣವೂ ಪಾಲಿಸಿದರು. ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಕೆಡುಕುಂಟು ಮಾಡದಂತೆ ಬಾಳಿದರು. ಸುಮಾರು 85 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಬದುಕಿದ್ದ ಅಬೂಬಕರ್ ಹಾಜಿ 1910ರಲ್ಲಿ ಮೃತಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರು ಎಂದು ಕುಟುಂಬಸ್ಥರು ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆತೂರಿನ ಮುಹಿಯುದ್ದೀನ್ ಜುಮಾ ಮಸೀದಿಯ ಬಳಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ದಫನ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ವರ್ಷಂಪ್ರತಿ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಸಮ್ಮಿಲನದ ಸಂದರ್ಭ ಮಕ್‌ಬರ ಝಿಯಾರತ್ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತಿವೆ.
ಅವಿಭಕ್ತ ಕುಟುಂಬವು ವಿಭಕ್ತ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂದಿನ ತಲೆಮಾರಿಗೆ ಹಿರಿಯ ತಲೆಮಾರುಗಳನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಅಬೂಬಕರ್ ಹಾಜಿಯ ವಂಶಸ್ಥರ ಪೈಕಿ 5ನೆ ತಲೆಮಾರಿನ ಪ್ರಮುಖರು 2013ರ ಮೇ 26ರಂದು “ಮರ್ಹೂಂ ಹಾಜಿ ಅಬೂಬಕರ್ ಫ್ಯಾಮಿಲಿ ವೆಲ್ಫೇರ್ ಅಸೋಸಿಯೇಶನ್ (ರಿ) ಆತೂರು-ಹಫ್ವಾ ಫ್ಯಾಮಿಲಿ” ಎಂಬ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಎನ್. ಇಬ್ರಾಹೀಂ ಜೇಡರಪೇಟೆ ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಪ್ರಸಕ್ತ ಮುಹಮ್ಮದ್ ಕುಂಞಿ ಜೋಗಿಬೆಟ್ಟು ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಆತೂರು ಪರಿಸರವಲ್ಲದೆ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು, ಹಾಸನ ಕೇರಳ ಮತ್ತಿತರ ಕಡೆ ನೆಲೆಸಿರುವ ನೂರಾರು ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳ 4 ಸಾವಿರಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧಿಕ ಮಂದಿ ಆತೂರು ಅಬೂಬಕರ್ ಹಾಜಿಯ ವಂಶವೃಕ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿರುವುದಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿದು ಬಂದಿದೆ. ರಮಝಾನ್ 19ರಂದು ಅಬೂಬಕ್ಕರ್ ಹಾಜಿ ನಿಧನರಾಗಿರುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಕಲೆ ಹಾಕಿರುವ ಕುಟುಂಬಸ್ಥರು ಈ ಅಸೋಸಿಯೇಶನ್‌ನ ಮೂಲಕ ಪ್ರತಿ ರಮಝಾನ್‌ನ 19ರಂದು ಖತಮುಲ್ ಕುರ್‌ಆನ್ ಹಾಗೂ ತಹ್ಲೀಲ್ ಸಮರ್ಪಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಇಫ್ತಾರ್ ಸಂಗಮ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಬಡ ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ವಿವಾಹ, ಆರ್ಥಿಕವಾಗಿ ಹಿಂದುಳಿದ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ವಿದ್ಯಾಭ್ಯಾಸ, ಅಪಘಾತಕ್ಕೀಡಾಗಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಸದಸ್ಯರಿಗೆ ನೆರವು ನೀಡಲಾಗುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಅಬೂಬಕರ್ ಹಾಜಿ ಸ್ಮಾರಕ ಸಭಾಭವನ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸುವ ಯೋಜನೆಯನ್ನೂ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡಿವೆ. ಈಗಾಗಲೆ ಈ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಸದಸ್ಯರ ಪೈಕಿ ವೈದ್ಯರು, ಇಂಜಿನಿಯರ್, ವಕೀಲರು, ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು… ಹೀಗೆ ವಿವಿಧ ಸ್ತರದ ಹುದ್ದೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಾಣಬಹುದಾಗಿದೆ. ಪ್ರತೀ ವರ್ಷ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಸಮ್ಮಿಲನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಆ ಮೂಲಕ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಸರ್ವ ಸದಸ್ಯರ ಪರಿಚಯವನ್ನು ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಮಾಡಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಸಮ್ಮಿಲನದ ಮೂಲಕ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಶಿಬಿರ, ಪ್ರತಿಭಾ ಪುರಸ್ಕಾರ, ವಿವಿಧ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳ ಆಯೋಜನೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳ ಮನೆ ಮನೆ ಭೇಟಿ, ಕುಟುಂಬಸ್ಥರ ಪರಿಚಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಮನೆಬಾಗಿಲಿಗೆ ಸ್ಟಿಕ್ಕರ್ ಅಳವಡಿಕೆ, ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳ ಆಯೋಜನೆ, ನಙಲೊ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಎಂಬ ಪುರವಣಿ, ಸ್ಮರಣ ಸಂಚಿಕೆ, ಕ್ಯಾಲೆಂಡರ್ ಹೊರತರುವುದು, ಪ್ರತಿಭಾವಂತರಿಗೆ ಸನ್ಮಾನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
ಹಫ್ವಾ ಫ್ಯಾಮಿಲಿ ಅಧೀನದಲ್ಲಿ ಯುವಕರನ್ನು ಸಂಘಟಿಸಿ “ಹಫ್ವಾ ಯೂತ್ ವಿಂಗ್” ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಅನಿವಾಸಿ ಸಮಿತಿಯನ್ನೂ ರಚಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಕುಟುಂಬ ಸಮ್ಮಿಲನದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಸಮಾಜಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾದರಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿಯಾಗಿರುವ ಈ ಅಸೋಸಿಯೇಶನ್‌ನ ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವೆ, ಕಾರ್ಯವೈಖರಿಯನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಟ್ಯಾಲೆಂಟ್ ರಿಸರ್ಚ್ ಫೌಂಡೇಶನ್ 2019ರ ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 23ರಂದು ಗೌರವ ಸನ್ಮಾನ ಪ್ರದಾನ ಮಾಡಿತ್ತು.
