Blood Donors Mangalore
Blood Donors Mangalore (R) was established on April 29, 2013, by a group of like-minded youth in the district, with the goal of providing emergency blood donations. The organization was founded by Siddique Ismail, whose vision has driven its success. Since its inception, Blood Donors Mangalore has organized 430 blood donation camps and supplied over 35,000 units of blood to patients in need, saving countless lives. The organization has even dispatched donors from Mangalore to remote states such as Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Goa during emergencies.
Their Social Services Include
- Organizing 430 successful blood donation camps.
- Providing emergency blood donations to more than 35,000 patients.
- Conducting free health and dental check-up camps.
- Offering financial assistance to patients unable to pay hospital bills.
- Implementing programs to educate students about blood donation in schools and colleges.
- Running public awareness programs on diseases such as Dengue, Malaria, and recently, COVID-19.
- Visiting and distributing relief kits to affected areas, such as the Kodagu district in 2018.
- Volunteering with the Indian Red Cross in affected areas.
- In 2019, distributing essential materials worth over 25 lakhs in Belgaum, Gokak, and Yamanakadi in North Karnataka.
- Distributing essential materials worth over 5 lakhs in Kajoor, Killur, and Belthangadi in Dakshina Kannada district.
- Building and donating three houses worth 20 lakhs to poor and orphaned families as part of the organization’s 5th anniversary project.
- Extending their social activities to Gulf countries like UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain, organizing a total of 45 blood donation camps in the UAE, 5 in Saudi Arabia, and 1 in Bahrain.
- Arranging chartered flights to bring 685 sick and unemployed passengers from Saudi Arabia to Mangalore during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Distributing food packets to centers for HIV-affected children and old age homes in DK district as part of Blood Donor Day.
- Conducting helmet awareness programs in collaboration with the traffic police as part of the government’s road safety campaign.
- Planning the “BDM Asare” program to distribute scholarships, wheelchairs, and health protection equipment to deserving children, sponsored by donors, as they approach their tenth anniversary.
The primary mission of Blood Donors Mangalore (R) is to establish a well-equipped blood bank in the future, inspired by the exemplary service of existing blood banks in collaboration with district hospitals.
The organization is deeply involved in numerous social services, earning recognition from various prestigious entities. They have been honored by the Karnataka State Government with the District Rajyotsava Award and have received accolades from several organizations within Karnataka, the Indian Red Cross, the Kerala Police Department, as well as the “Raktanayaka Award” and “Blood Leader Award” in Haryana for organizing one-day blood donation camps in Bangalore.
Blood Donors Mangalore is supported by 59 dedicated Socially Concerned Officers (Executives), both domestically and internationally, who serve selflessly without seeking any reward.
