Haji Alikunhi Pare

Haji Alikunhi Pare was born on December 15, 1953. He completed his lower primary at Manjanady Government School, higher primary at Deralkatte Government School and SSLC at Anandashram High School, Ullal Someshwara, PUC and BA at Government College, Mangalore.

As a college student, Haji Alikunhi Pare was active in NSS and NCC. He founded the ‘Pare Grameena Vidyarthi Sangha’ and became its general secretary. His social works include his service as the president of Santhosh Yuvaka Mandal Kinya, Vice President of Mangaluru Taluk and D.K. District ‘Yubajana Okkoota’, Founder President of Manjanadi Government H.P. School Alumni Association, Vice President of Mangalore Taluk Jamiyyatul Falah, Member of Mangalore Akashvani Program Committee, member of D.K. District Telephone Advisory Committee. Alikunhi Pare was also the founding member of Kendra Beary Sahitya Parishath and the founding president of Pare Melthene (Beary Eltkaar pinne Kalavidammaro Koota). He is currently its honorary president. He is currently serving as the vice-president of Muslim Writers Association and as a member of the executive committee of the DK and Udupi District Muslim Central Committee. Haji Alikunhi Pare is actively engaged in literary, social, religious and political fields today. He writes poems and articles in Kannada and Beary languages and had read them out to audience in many poets’ conventions. ‘Shoonyakke Drishti Hayisidaga’, an anthology of his Kannada poems is published. Haji Alikunhi Pare is a very good hockey, Kabaddi, sprint, khokho and volley ball player.  He served as the founder secretary and then president of Nurul Uloom Madrasa Samiti of Kallarakodi. He was the secretary of Nusratul Islam Association of Manjanadi and later served as its president. He has served as the secretary and president of Manjanadi Central Juma Masjid and has been a member of the Jamaat Management Committee for the past 26 years. He is also the President of Ullal Taluk Committee of Karnataka Muslim Jamaat.

He served as General Secretary of Ullala Block Youth Congress, Organizing Secretary, and later as General Secretary, of DK District Youth Congress. He is also the recipient of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy’s Honorary Award in 2019. He was the chairman of the first Ullala Taluk Beary Sahitya Sammelana held at Ullal Alekala on March 27, 2021.
