Haji S. Ibrahim Kammadi
02/10/1945 – 23/09/2020
Haji S. Ibrahim Kammadi, born on October 2, 1945, emerged from humble beginnings in Sompadi, Sarve village, Puttur taluk, as the fourth son of Puttabba and Bifatima. Despite his modest upbringing, Ibrahim displayed early entrepreneurial spirit, establishing himself in the business world after completing his primary education in the village.
Initially involved in seed trading in Sulya and business ventures in Kurnadka, Ibrahim’s aspirations led him to partner with Malnad Industries and delve into the wood industry, eventually founding “Kammadi Plywood” near Sampya village in Aryapu. Under his leadership, the company achieved ISI/SIO accreditation from the central government, solidifying its position in the industry.
Beyond business success, Ibrahim was deeply committed to social, religious, educational, and healthcare initiatives. He pioneered the concept of “Muslim Samyukta Jamaat” in Karnataka, serving as its president for 12 years in Sulya before establishing a chapter in Puttur in 2002, where he remained president for approximately 15 years.
Respecting the counsel of senior scholars, Ibrahim established religious educational institutions and generously supported community endeavors, including the construction of mosques, madrasas, and the sponsorship of marriages for underprivileged girls. He also served as president of Zahrabatul Women’s College and founded Islaadi Islamic Education.
A vocal critic of fraudulent practices in private Hajj and Umrah tourism, Ibrahim tirelessly advocated for ethical pilgrimage arrangements through Puttur Samyukta Jamaat. Despite illness, he maintained his commitment to service until his passing on September 23, 2020, due to a heart attack in Mangalore. Survived by a son and daughter from his first marriage.
