Hussain Pavoor, born to Hammabba and Aysamma on October 9, 1947, in Podar site of Pavuru village, emerged as a respected writer and social activist. Despite his humble beginnings, he managed to make a significant impact on his community and beyond.

Raised in a poor family, Hussain pursued his education diligently. He studied from 1st to 7th standard at Sri Ramakrishna High School in Harekala and continued from 8th to SSLC at a government school in Mangalore. Later, he took on the responsibility of managing a business in Mangalore, while also actively participating in the left-wing party and various organizations. Balancing his professional life and family responsibilities with his wife Nebisa and their two daughters and a son, he remained committed to social causes.

Hussain was known for his generosity and dedication to helping others, despite his financial struggles. He tirelessly worked to connect hundreds of people with government services and support from various organizations. His friends recall that his home was a hub of activity, with at least 10 people visiting daily to seek assistance for various government facilities. He also addressed numerous family, business, and social issues, often hosting meetings at his house to listen and mediate.

As a member of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), Hussain was involved in advocating for people’s rights. He played a crucial role in many struggles and movements.

In addition to his activism, Hussain was a writer who illuminated various social, environmental, and political issues through his work.

Hussain Pavoor passed away on August 6, 2016.

ಲೇಖಕ-ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಹೋರಾಟಗಾರ ಹುಸೈನ್ ಪಾವೂರು

ಪಾವೂರು ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಪೋಡಾರ್‍ಸೈಟ್ ಎಂಬಲ್ಲಿ ಹಮ್ಮಬ್ಬ-ಐಸಮ್ಮ ದಂಪತಿಯ ಪುತ್ರನಾಗಿ ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 9, 1947ರಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದ ಹುಸೈನ್ ಪಾವೂರು ಲೇಖಕರಾಗಿ, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಹೋರಾಟಗಾರರಾಗಿ ಗುರುತಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಬಡತನದ ಮಧ್ಯೆಯೂ 1ರಿಂದ 7ನೆ ತರಗತಿಯವರೆಗೆ ಹರೇಕಳದ ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಕೃಷ್ಣ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲೆ ಮತ್ತು 8ರಿಂದ ಎಸೆಸೆಲ್ಸಿವರೆಗೆ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಸರಕಾರಿ ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲಿತರು. ಬಳಿಕ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಉದ್ಯಮಿಯೊಬ್ಬರ ವ್ಯವಹಾರದ ಉಸ್ತುವಾರಿ ವಹಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಪತ್ನಿ ನೆಬಿಸ ಮತ್ತು ಇಬ್ಬರು ಪುತ್ರಿಯರು ಹಾಗೂ ಒಬ್ಬ ಪುತ್ರನ ಜೊತೆ ಸಂಸಾರ ಸಾಗಿಸುತ್ತಲೇ ಎಡ ಪಕ್ಷ, ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಕ್ರಿಯರಾಗಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಸ್ವತಃ ತಾನು ಆರ್ಥಿಕವಾಗಿ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರೂ ಅದನ್ನು ತೋರ್ಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ ಊರಿನ ನೂರಾರು ಮಂದಿಗೆ ಸರಕಾರದ, ವಿವಿಧ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ದೊರಕಿಸಿಕೊಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಪ್ರತೀ ದಿನ ಕನಿಷ್ಟ 10 ಮಂದಿಯಾದರೂ ಇವರ ಮನೆಗೆ ತೆರಳಿ ಸರಕಾರದ ನಾನಾ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅರ್ಜಿ ಬರೆಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದುದು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿತ್ತು ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಇವರ ಒಡನಾಡಿಗಳು ನೆನಪಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅದಲ್ಲದೆ ಕೌಟುಂಬಿಕ, ವ್ಯಾವಹಾರಿಕ, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿ ಪರಿಹಾರ ಕಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಇವರ ಬಳಿ ಅನೇಕ ಮಂದಿ ಅಹವಾಲು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಇತ್ತಂಡದ ಸದಸ್ಯರನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಕರೆಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಎಲ್ಲರ ಮಾತನ್ನು ತದೇಕಚಿತ್ತದಿಂದ ಆಲಿಸಿ ರಾಜಿ ಪಂಚಾಯತಿ ಮಾಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಡಿವೈಎಫ್‍ಐ, ಸಿಪಿಎಂ ಪಕ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಅನೇಕ ಜನಪರ ಹೋರಾಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಲೇಖಕರೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದ ಹುಸೈನ್ ಪಾವೂರು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ, ಪರಿಸರ, ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಬೆಳಕು ಚೆಲ್ಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 6, 2016ರಂದು ಇವರು ನಿಧನರಾದರು.
