Jamiyyatul Falah
Having established and registered in the year 1989, JAMIYYATUL FALAH as the name suggests “Unity towards success” has since became a trusted entity in terms of charity and community service. Alhamdulillah we have grown into a handsome youth of thirty five years. Our main nurtures are our founders and dedicated members. It was not at all possible for us to grow so strongly without the help of our well-wishers and philanthropists who are life-line of our organization.
The association started with the help of Br.Mohammed Iqbal Yousuf, local businessmen and individuals, as well as NRIs and became more of a global movement than just an establishment. Through co-ordinating with multiple organizations, we have greatly contributed to major fundamental projects ranging from scholarships, vocational trainings, healthcare and community empowerment. The steady increase of volunteers, members and patrons evidently proves the eminence of our association and our mission.
The Association was first headed by Marhoom Mohammed Hussain as President, Marhoom Abdul Qadar as the General Secretary and Marhoom M.S.Abubakker Mukka as the treasurer along with the support and guidance of Br. Mohammed Iqbal Yousuf and other executive committee members. Together they envisioned the association’s role and method of implementation within the society.
The first team rendered the yeoman service that made systematic effort not to restrict Jamiyyatul Falah only to the HQ at Mangalore but also to the remote localities in the districts. Whilst carrying the message “Education is the key to success”, the association has captivated leaders of local Jamats, formed Taluk-level committees and has encouraged youths to join the movement in any way they are willing to contribute. These approaches encouraged the bringing up of leadership and responsibility within the local community to inspire them to take part with the development of their society.
The access to education was limited to muslim community during the 1980s when one or two educational institutions were functioning at the district centre only. Religious educational institutions (madarasas) were functioning in rural areas. The community had not realised the importance of education. In fact, the community members were oblivious of the pitfalls of neglecting education. It was at this juncture that Janab Mohammed Iqbal Yousuf and his friends felt the need to spread awareness to the community about the advantages and privileges of educating youth for our future generations. Like-minded persons joined hands with this motley group of people leading to the birth of ‘Jamiyyatul Falah’. Over the years, Jamiyyatul Falah gave a new dimension for the educational progress of Muslim community in coastal areas of Karnataka.
JF celebrated its silver jubilee in the year 2013 reaching this milestone which is the testament for the consistency in dedication and sacrifice by all who are instrumental directly or indirectly in this achievement.
Presently JF is headed by eminent personalities like K.K.Shahul Hameed as President, Shaikh Abdul Gafoor as Secretary and K.M.Siddique as Treasurer who continuously rendering their selfless service to the organization to take it to new heights of success.
It was a proud moment for Jamiyyatul Falah when Government of Karnataka has bestowed it with ‘Best N.G.O‘ in the year 2007 for their service to the community in the field of education. Not resting on its laurels, JF is constantly working hard to continue its contribution to the society and community at large in whatever way it can. In health care, considering the increasing number of dialysis patients in the region JF is helping them with monthly financial aid for the deserving patients to avail dialysis treatment from reputed hospitals in Mangalore.
Over the years JF with its Head Quarters in Kankanady Mangalore has expanded its operation throughout D.K.and Udupi Districts by opening Unit Centres namely Mangalore Corporation, Mangalore Taluk, Udupi, Bantwal, Belthangady, Brahmavara, Byndoor, Moodbidri, Karkala, Kaup, Kundapura, Puttur and Sullia and more recently Ullal. Through these branches JF is aiming to reach as many people as possible who are deprived of basic education, healthcare etc in our community.
JF is successfully managing Jamiyyatul Falah Green View School and PU College at Adkarepadpu village near Konaje since 1988 where students are given free education from primary to PU College. The college has been consistently securing 100% result since its inception 9 years ago. In the academic year 2022-23 Green View PU College is conferred with prestigious MEIF Excellence Award for the “Best Pre-University Womens College” in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. (Out of 180 MEIF Institutions) with one student securing 8th rank in Karnataka state.
Our future projects include a long-awaited Hostel for Girls in the heart of Mangalore city, an educational hub in a sprawling 6 acres of land in Moodbidri and a Boys’ hostel in the educational zone between Udupi and Manipal.
Established with the main objective of uplifting the living standards of our community, Jamiyyatul Falah has launched several programs including Scholarship distribution, Health service, Assistance to Dialysis patients, Career guidance, Zakat Fund distribution, Sunnath camps, Health camps, Iftari and sahari for poor hostel students, Ramadan kits, Ration kits, Houses built for poor etc..
Our youth are future of the community and hold key to the progress of the nation. Globally, young muslims are faced by numerous pressures and obstacles affecting their personal development, well-being and socio-economic status. It is incumbent on JF to engage and support the youth by creating opportunities for personal, social, spiritual and political growth. Islamic tradition holds its young people in special esteem and calls upon them to be active members of the society. We at JF support and empower the youth by helping organizations to harness the potential of young people and develop them to be the successful members of the community. We have been working via interactive seminars and summits encouraging young muslim men and women to become more engaged in socio-economic developments in their communities.
Our young generation shall be encouraged to participate in improving the standard of education in the communities. This shall be done by establishing skill-based training programs. Education should be the largest program area where volunteers play an important role in creating links among schools, parents and communities. They may work in elementary, secondary or post-secondary schools, teaching subjects such as maths, science or conversational English or as resource teachers or teacher trainers. Volunteers also develop libraries and technology resource centres. JF shall recognize and encourage entrepreneurship among young people as they have the potential to significantly reduce the youth unemployment. JF shall support new initiatives that will help eradicate inequality and poverty throughout the state. Training tomorrow’s leaders today at JF. Be trained as a leader with Islamic values and principles. Learn how to take on leadership roles your community. JF could do this by introducing more consultative workshops and seminar opportunities across all Taluks. Having IT platforms can give each unit simultaneous access to participate in Training Seminars, monthly meetings and other events/programs without being physically present. Capacity building is particularly important in the context of the Muslim community as this creates the long term sustainability through increasing channels of funding and revenue and expanding services reach and providing advancement for youth through opportunities. In order to stay relevant and meet the needs of our community, JF is willing to allow younger members to take leadership roles in the organization. Younger members bring new ideas and challenges to grow to new levels. While we embark on engaging new generation into the mainstream, it is equally important to have an IT platform for overall management that is innovative and foster collaboration, transparency and reduction of bureaucratic barriers allowing Management to focus on community works. We are hopeful Insha Allah that this will enable us to become more resilient in the face of challenges that are yet to come. May Allah give us the wisdom to strengthen our community and create opportunity for participation of all segments of our society. Aameen.
