K.H. Hussain Kunhi Haji of Kinya was a revered figure known for his enduring influence in his village across generations. Born on January 27, 1939, to Ismail Haji and Zulekha in Chayar Valachhil, Kinya, he played pivotal roles in the services of religion, social work, and politics, shaping the fabric of his community.

Hussain Kunhi Haji’s legacy in Kinya was marked by his steadfast dedication to the Kinya Central Juma Masjid, where he served as General Secretary and later President for nearly 45 years.

Hussain Kunhi Haji also contributed as a member of the Kotekar Mandal Panchayat from 1987 to 1992, representing Kotekar, Talapadi, and Kinya villages. Subsequently, he continued his public service as a member and President of the Kinya Gram Panchayat for five years.

An active member of the Congress party, Hussain Kunhi Haji fostered strong relationships with political leaders such as BM Idinabba, UT Farid, and UT Khader, who were prominent MLAs in the region.

Beyond his political and religious roles, Hussain Kunhi Haji contributed to educational initiatives as the founder president of the Deralkatte Range Madrasa Management and as a member of the Dakshina Kannada District Waqf Advisory Committee.

Hussain Kunhi Haji passed away on October 8, 2022, preceded in death by his wife. He is survived by his son and five daughters.

ಎರಡು-ಮೂರು ತಲೆಮಾರಿನ ಬಳಿಕವೂ ಗ್ರಾಮವೊಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಹಿಡಿತ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದ ಬೆರಳೆಣಿಕೆಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಿನ್ಯದ ಕೆ. ಎಚ್. ಹುಸೈನ್ ಕುಂಞಿ ಹಾಜಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖರು ಎನ್ನಬಹುದು. ಕಿನ್ಯ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಚಾಯರ್ ವಲಚ್ಚಿಲ್ ಎಂಬಲ್ಲಿನ ಇಸ್ಮಾಯೀಲ್ ಹಾಜಿ-ಝುಲೇಖಾ ದಂಪತಿಯ ಪುತ್ರನಾಗಿ 1939ರ ಜನವರಿ 27ರಂದು ಜನಿಸಿದ ಹುಸೈನ್ ಕುಂಞಿ ಹಾಜಿ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ, ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಕಿನ್ಯದ ಪ್ರಮುಖರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕಿನ್ಯದ ಕುರಿಯಕ್ಕಾರ್ ಮನೆತನದ ಹುಸೈನ್ ಕುಂಞಿ ಹಾಜಿ ಸುಮಾರು 45 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಕಿನ್ಯ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಜುಮಾ ಮಸೀದಿಯ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಯಾಗಿ, ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದ ಹಿರಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರು. 1987ರಿಂದ 1992ರವರೆಗೆ ಕೋಟೆಕಾರ್, ತಲಪಾಡಿ, ಕಿನ್ಯ ಗ್ರಾಮವನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡ ಕೋಟೆಕಾರ್ ಮಂಡಲ ಪಂಚಾಯತ್ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಬಳಿಕ ಕಿನ್ಯ ಗ್ರಾಮ ಪಂಚಾಯತ್ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿ, 5 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಪಕ್ಷದ ಸಕ್ರಿಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅವರು ಕಿನ್ಯ ಗ್ರಾಮ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಶಾಸಕರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಬಿ.ಎಂ. ಇದಿನಬ್ಬ, ಯು.ಟಿ. ಫರೀದ್, ಯು.ಟಿ. ಖಾದರ್ ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಒಡನಾಟ ಬೆಳೆಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.
ದೇರಳಕಟ್ಟೆ ರೇಂಜ್ ಮದ್ರಸ ಮ್ಯಾನೇಜ್ಮೆಂಟ್‌ನ ಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ, ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ವಕ್ಫ್ ಸಲಹಾ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅವರು 2022ರ ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 8ರಂದು ನಿಧನರಾದರು. ಅವರ ಪತ್ನಿ ಈ ಹಿಂದೆಯೇ ನಿಧನರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಹುಸೈನ್ ಕುಂಞಿ ಹಾಜಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಪುತ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ಐದು ಮಂದಿ ಪುತ್ರಿಯರಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
