‘Melthene’ is an organization of Beary writers and artists established in Deralakatte near Mangaluru on 15 September 2015. The group was spearheaded by Janab Ali Kunhi Pare who became its Founding President. Hamza Malar, Basheer Ahmed Kinya and Ismath Pajeer were its founding members.
‘Melthene’ aims at preserving and propagating Beary language, literature, arts and culture. It has organized many literary events till date. Every year, on October 3, ‘Melthene’ celebrates Beary Language Day. Story writing, poem writing, singing, essay, reading and quiz competition in Beary Language and translation of Beary stories are conducted to celebrate the love for the language. Mane-Mane Sahitya is an innovative program by the group. It has successfully organized Ullal Taluk Beary Sahitya Sammelana twice. ‘Melthenero Muttunga’ and a poetry collection by Basheer Ahmed Kinya titled ‘Nanobba Hadugara’ are its proud publications.
Taravadloru naal leys, Pernal Sandola, ‘Melthene’ members’ family reunion, introducing Beary language to foreign students, seminars, discussions, poets’convention and literary fests are organized regularly by the organization.
