Muhammad Baddoor
Muhammad Baddoor was born on January 18, 1949, in Baddoor, a village in Meramajalu, Karnataka. As the eldest son of Hira Haji and Fatima, his journey to becoming a writer, actor, and poet is quite fascinating. In 1964, when he was just sixteen, he wrote a Tulu play titled “Bonyadulaida Genda” out of frustration for not being given a role in another play. This play marked his debut in literature, and it was successfully performed that same year.
Muhammad Baddoor’s education includes studying up to PUC and completing religious studies up to the 7th standard in a Madrasa run by his father, who was a Talim Ustad, giving him training in martial arts as well.
He has a deep appreciation and control over literature, composing poems in Kannada, Tulu, Beary, and Urdu languages. Another notable work of his in Tulu is the play “Karedanti Kadal,” which was also successful. He has participated in over 1600 poetry meetings as a poet, in various roles such as inaugurator and president, which might be a record.
His notable literary works include “Kammane,” a collection of Beary poems, “Sidilu,” a collection of Kannada articles, and “Baddura Saddu,” a collection of Kannada poetry. He has earned recognition across Karnataka, Goa, Kerala, and Maharashtra.
As an actor, he has appeared in three Beary movies, two Tulu movies, and one Kannada movie, amassing a significant fan following. Despite his straightforward and direct demeanor, which has sometimes earned him enemies, those who truly understand him know he has a soft heart.
