Muhammad Abubakar, born on March 30, 1961, to Muhammad and Khateezamma in Pandelu near Manjeshwar, was a prominent Beary leader and educationist. His career journey took him from Manjeshwar to Thumbay and later to Dakshina Kannada district and Gulf countries, earning him the nickname “Prof. M. Abubakar Thumbay.”

Abubakar began his career as a teacher at Badria Primary School, Mangalore, in 1982, where he worked until 1987. He briefly served as an executive with the Thumbay BA Group before becoming the principal of B. Ahmed Haji Muhiuddin BA College from 1988 to 1995. In 1996, he served as the principal of Muslim Residential School in Kotekar, and in 1997, he became the principal of UAE NIMS Institute. Later, he took on the role of principal at Ras Al Khaimah Scholars Indian School in the UAE.

A graduate with MA degrees in English and Political Science, as well as B.Ed., PGDBM, PGDCA, and DCA qualifications, Abubakar was known for his discipline and dedication to education. He provided educational support to thousands of underprivileged students and was closely associated with various social organizations. He served as Treasurer, CBSE Counselor, and CEIR Zonal Director for over 200 CBSE educational institutions in Gulf countries.

In recognition of his contributions to education, Abubakar was honored with the ‘Effective Global Educational Leadership Award 2020’ by MSME under the Government of India.

Muhammad Abubakar is survived by his wife, one son, and two daughters. He passed away on March 23, 2021, at his residence in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, and his last rites were performed the following day at the Juma Masjid graveyard.

ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರ ಸಮೀಪದ ಪಾಂಡೇಲು ಎಂಬಲ್ಲಿನ ಮುಹಮ್ಮದ್-ಖತೀಜಮ್ಮ ದಂಪತಿಯ ಪುತ್ರನಾಗಿ 1961ರ ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 30ರಂದು ಜನಿಸಿದ ಮುಹಮ್ಮದ್ ಅಬೂಬಕರ್ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ತಜ್ಞರಾಗಿ ಮೆರೆದ ಬೆರಳೆಣಿಕೆಯ ಬ್ಯಾರಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರು.
ವೃತ್ತಿಯ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಮಂಜೇಶ್ವರದಿಂದ ತುಂಬೆಗೆ ಸ್ಥಳಾಂತರಗೊಂಡ ಅವರು ಆ ಬಳಿಕ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ ಮತ್ತು ಗಲ್ಫ್ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದರೂ ಕೂಡ “ಪ್ರೊ. ಎಂ. ಅಬೂಬಕರ್ ತುಂಬೆ’ ಎಂದೇ ಗುರುತಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರು.
1982ರಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಬದ್ರಿಯಾ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರಾಗಿ ವೃತ್ತಿ ಜೀವನ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದ ಅವರು 1987ರವರೆಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದರು. ಕೆಲವು ಸಮಯ ತುಂಬೆ ಬಿ.ಎ. ಗ್ರೂಪ್‌ನ ಎಕ್ಸಿಕ್ಯುಟಿವ್ ಆಗಿದ್ದರು. 1988ರಿಂದ 1995ರವರೆಗೆ ಬಿ. ಅಹ್ಮದ್ ಹಾಜಿ ಮುಹಿಯುದ್ದೀನ್ ಅವರ ಬಿ.ಎ. ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. 1996ರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೋಟೆಕಾರ್ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂ ವಸತಿ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. 1997ರಲ್ಲಿ ಯುಎಇ ನಿಮ್ಸ್ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದರು. ಬಳಿಕ ಯುಎಇ ರಾಸ್ ಅಲ್ ಖೈಮಾ ಸ್ಕಾಲರ್ಸ್ ಇಂಡಿಯನ್ ಸ್ಕೂಲ್‌ನ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದರು.
ಎಂಎ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಮತ್ತು ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ) ಹಾಗೂ ಬಿಎಡ್/ಪಿಜಿಡಿಬಿಎಂ/ಪಿಜಿಡಿಸಿಎ/ಡಿಸಿಎ ಪದವೀಧರರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅವರು
ಶಿಸ್ತಿನ ಸಿಪಾಯಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಬಡ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಸಮಾಜಮುಖಿ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳ ಜೊತೆ ನಿಕಟ ಸಂಪರ್ಕ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಗಲ್ಫ್ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಗಳ ಸುಮಾರು 200ಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧಿಕ ಸಿಬಿಎಸ್‌ಇ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಕೋಶಾಧಿಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ, ಸಿಬಿಎಸ್‌ಇ ಕೌನ್ಸಿಲರ್ ಆಗಿ, ಸಿಇಐಆರ್ ವಲಯ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು.

ಶಿಕ್ಷಣಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು ನೀಡಿದ್ದ ಕೊಡುಗೆಯನ್ನು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಿ ಭಾರತ ಸರಕಾರದ ಅಧೀನದ ಎಂಎಸ್‌ಎಂಇ ವತಿಯಿಂದ 2020ರ ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿ ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ನಾಯಕತ್ವ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ’ ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.
ಪತ್ನಿ, ಒಬ್ಬ ಪುತ್ರ, ಇಬ್ಬರು ಪುತ್ರಿಯರನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದ ಅವರು 2021ರ ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 23ರಂದು ಯುಎಇ ರಾಸ್‌ಅಲ್ ಖೈಮಾದ ಸ್ವಗೃಹದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಧನರಾದರು. ಮರುದಿನ ತುಂಬೆ ಜುಮಾ ಮಸೀದಿಯ ಖಬರ್‌ಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಅಂತ್ಯ ಸಂಸ್ಕಾರ ನೆರವೇರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
