Riyaz Ashraf Beary, widely known as “Kalakar Ashraf” or “Riyaz Ashraf Kalakar”, was a artist whose talents spanned literature, acting, poetry, writing, singing, painting, and hosting programs. Born in 1973 to Hasan and Zulekha in the 4th block of Katipalla near Suratkal, Riyaz Ashraf grew up immersed in the cultural and artistic milieu of Karnataka and Kerala.

From an early age, Riyaz demonstrated proficiency in multiple languages including Beary, Tulu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. He initially wrote under the pen name Riyaz Katipalla and later became known for his contributions across various artistic platforms. His career encompassed roles in movies, dramas, and serials across different languages. Noteworthy appearances include Kannada movies like “Munnudi” and “Yarivalu?”, the Malayalam movie “Urumi”, and several Beary cinema-dramas such as “Naalo Kudumba” and “Mami Marmolu”. He also made contributions to Kannada serials like “Mukta-Mukta”, “Beli Chukki”, and Malayalam serials like “Chillugall”. Additionally, Riyaz directed various projects including movies and song albums in different languages.

Riyaz Ashraf’s passion for art extended beyond performing arts; he was also actively involved in organizing cultural events, weddings, product launches, and managing entertainment setups. He founded an organization called ‘Kalakar Creations’, which became a platform for promoting art and culture in the region.

Known for his affable personality and gentlemanly demeanor, Riyaz Ashraf was beloved by his peers and fans alike. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life was a testament to his charismatic presence in the artistic community.

Tragically, Riyaz Ashraf passed away on February 4, 2023, following complications from a severe heart attack. Despite receiving treatment at private hospitals in Kasaragod and Mangalore, his condition deteriorated, leading to his demise. He is survived by his wife and four sons, leaving behind a legacy of artistic excellence and cultural enrichment. Riyaz Ashraf Beary was laid to rest at Arikkadi near Kumble, marking the end of a remarkable journey in the world of arts and culture.

ಬಹುಮುಖ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯ ರಿಯಾಝ್ ಅಶ್ರಫ್ ಕಲಾಕಾರ್

ರಿಯಾಝ್ ಅಶ್ರಫ್ ಬ್ಯಾರಿ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಕಲಾರಂಗದ ಅಪ್ರತಿಮ ಸಾಧಕ. ಬಹುಮುಖ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯಿಂದಾಗಿಯೇ ಅವರನ್ನು ಆಪ್ತ ವಲಯವು “ಕಲಾಕಾರ್ ಅಶ್ರಫ್” ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ “ರಿಯಾಝ್ ಅಶ್ರಫ್ ಕಲಾಕಾರ್” ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲೂ ಅವರು ಗುರುತಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರು.

ಸುರತ್ಕಲ್ ಸಮೀಪದ ಕಾಟಿಪಳ್ಳದ 4ನೇ ಬ್ಲಾಕ್‌ನ ಹಸನ್-ಝುಲೇಖಾ ದಂಪತಿಯ ಪುತ್ರನಾಗಿ 1973ರಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿ ಬೆಳೆದ ರಿಯಾಝ್ ಅಶ್ರಫ್ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಕಲಾಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಕ್ರಿಯವಾಗಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡವರು. ಬ್ಯಾರಿ, ತುಳು, ಕನ್ನಡ, ಮಲಯಾಳಂ, ಹಿಂದಿ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಡಿತವಿದ್ದ ರಿಯಾಝ್ ಅಶ್ರಫ್ ಆರಂಭದ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ರಿಯಾಝ್ ಕಾಟಿಪಳ್ಳ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಹಲವು ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರ, ನಾಟಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಟಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ನಟರಾಗಿ, ಕವಿಯಾಗಿ, ಲೇಖಕರಾಗಿ, ಗಾಯಕರಾಗಿ ಗುರುತಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ ರಿಯಾಝ್ ಚಿತ್ರಕಲಾವಿದರೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದರು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಿರೂಪಕರಾಗಿಯೂ ಗಮನ ಸೆಳೆದಿದ್ದರು.

ಕಲೆಯನ್ನೇ ಜೀವನ ಆಧಾರವನ್ನಾಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಬಳಿಕ ರಿಯಾಝ್ ‘ಕಲಾಕಾರ್ ಕ್ರಿಯೇಶನ್ಸ್’ ಎಂಬ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿ ‘ಕಲಾಕಾರ್’ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಗುರುತಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರು. ಕಾಸರಗೋಡು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಬಂದ್ಯೋಡ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮನೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರೂ ವೃತ್ತಿಯ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಮದುವೆ, ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳ ಆಯೋಜನೆ, ವಿವಿಧ ಕಂಪೆನಿಗಳ ನಾನಾ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳ ಅನಾವರಣ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ವಹಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಡೆಕೊರೇಶನ್, ವೀಡಿಯೋ ಶೂಟಿಂಗ್, ಫೋಟೋಗ್ರಫಿ, ಮನರಂಜನೆ, ಬೆಳಕಿನ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.

ಕಲೆ-ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯವನ್ನೇ ಉಸಿರಾಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ರಿಯಾಝ್ ಬ್ಯಾರಿ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮನಮುಟ್ಟುವಂತಹ ಕವನಗಳನ್ನು ರಚಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಸರಳ, ಸಜ್ಜನಿಕೆಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವದ ರಿಯಾಝ್ ಎಲ್ಲರ ಜೊತೆ ಆತ್ಮೀಯವಾಗಿ ಬೆರೆಯುವ ಗುಣಸ್ವಭಾವ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಿನೆಮಾಗಳಾದ ಮುನ್ನುಡಿ, ಯಾರಿವಳು?, ಮಲಯಾಳಂ ಸಿನೆಮಾ ಉರುಮಿ, ಬ್ಯಾರಿ ಸಿನೆಮಾ-ನಾಟಕಗಳಾದ ನಙಲೊ ಕುಟುಂಬ, ಮಾಮಿ ಮರ್ಮೋಲು, ಬ್ಯಾರಿ, ಸಾವುಂಞಾಕರೊ ಸಾಲೆ, ಕನ್ನಡ ಧಾರಾವಾಹಿಗಳಾದ ಮುಕ್ತ-ಮುಕ್ತ, ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ ಚುಕ್ಕಿ, ನೋಡಿ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ನಡೆಯೋದೆ ಹೀಗೆ, ಮಲಯಾಳಂ ಧಾರಾವಾಹಿ ಚಿಲ್ಲುಗಲ್‌ಲ್, ವಿವಿಧ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಹಾಡಿನ ಆಲ್ಬಂಗಳಾದ ಈ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ನಿನಗಾಗಿ, ಸುರುಮ, ಮೋಕೆದ ಮಗಲ್, ಇದೇಮ ಪಿರ್ಸ?, ಪುಲ್ಲಿತ್ತಟ್ಟಂಗೆ ಸಹ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನಗೈದಿದ್ದರು.

ಸದಾ ಲವಲವಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ರಿಯಾಝ್ ತೀವ್ರ ಹೃದಯಾಘಾತಕ್ಕೀಡಾಗಿ ಕಾಸರಗೋಡು ಮತ್ತು ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗಾಗಿ ದೇರಳಕಟ್ಟೆಯ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೂ ದಾಖಲಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಫಲಕಾರಿಯಾಗದೆ 2023ರ ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ 4ರಂದು ಕೊನೆಯುಸಿರೆಳೆದ ರಿಯಾಝ್ ಪತ್ನಿ ಮತ್ತು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಮಂದಿ (ಮೊದಲ ಪತ್ನಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮತ್ತು ಎರಡನೆ ಪತ್ನಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂವರು) ಪುತ್ರರನ್ನು ಅಗಲಿದರು. ಕುಂಬಳೆ ಸಮೀಪದ ಅರಿಕ್ಕಾಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ದಫನ ಕ್ರಿಯೆ ನೆರವೇರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
