Father: Ibrahim Fazil Haneefi, a khatib (cleric) at the mosque.

Shamsheer is the eldest of four children. Grew up in Budoli, involved in religious and community activities.

Education

• BA in Journalism, Kannada Language Optional and Data Processing from SDM College, Ujire.
• Diploma in Journalism (D.I.J.) from Mysore Open University.
• Master’s degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from Mangalore University.
• Currently pursuing a Ph.D at Karnataka State Open University, Mysore (Topic ‘Role of Language in Social Media: A Case Study of WhatsApp Use in the Beary Community’)

Career & Major Milestones

• Started writing for newspapers after completing SSLC.
• Worked with prominent TV channels: TV9, Suvarna News, Public TV, Raj News, Suddi TV.
• He was a Member of Karnataka State Beary Sahithya Academy.
• Currently, the Dakshina Kannada District Bureau Chief & Senior Correspondent of Zee Kannada.
• Reporter and anchor for Sanmarga News.
• Correspondent for ‘Public Impact’ TV channel and U channel
• Significant Contributions and Achievements:
• Authored over 1,500 articles published in various newspapers.
• Active participation in state-level poetry conferences and seminars.
• Founder of the news website VKNews during his student years.
• Produced a documentary titled ‘Heegondu Samvada’.
• Editor of his own blog (www.shamsheerbudoli.blogspot.com) called ‘Jolige’
• Acted as an artist in a photo comics titled ‘Marichike’ produced by Katha Bindu.
