The Bearys Welfare Association established at Bangalore in 1988 is recorded as the first Beary organization. Bearys who had come to Bangalore from different parts of the state for employment, business ventures and education formed this group to develop bonds and stand together through the ebb and flow of life. It is considered as one of the most influential organizations in the state today.

When the association emerged, it had M M Khuraishi as its founding president, Moosabba Beary as vice-president, Ahmad Bawa Bajal as general secretary, Attur Chayabba as joint secretary and Abid Beary as treasurer.

The association aims at overall development of Beary community with social, cultural and economic empowerment. Though its activities were limited to Bearys in Bangalore in the early days, it was gradually extended to the entire state. Along with providing scholarships and financial assistance to thousands of students, the association has strengthened the dignity of the community by felicitating Beary achievers across Karnataka. The first ‘Beary Sammelana’, a two-day literary and cultural event organized by the association at Palace Ground in Bangalore from 13 to 14 December, 1997, as a pa rt of its decennial celebrations was truly a historic moment for the community. It ignited the spirit of a Beary movement across the state, mainly in Dakshina Kannada district -the cradle of Beary culture. Inspired by this watershed moment, many new Beary organizations were formed, Beary Sammelanas were conducted and the Government of Karnataka approved the formation of Beary Sahitya Academy, a prolonged demand of the community.

‘Beary Souharda Bhavana’ built by the association at the reputed HBR Layout in Bangalore stands as a monument for the achievement of the community. Constructed with an estimated budget of 15 crores, it is a tower of pride for the community, in the capital city, which holds a ladies hostel, an air conditioned hall and other facilities. The income generated by the Bhavana is used for community oriented activities.

M M Khureshi, K M Beary, Moosa Beary, A R Mulki, Sayyed Muhammad Beary, B M Farooq, Umar T K, G A Bawa, T K Muhammad, Atturu Chayabba, Iqbal Ahmad, Ahmad Bawa Bajal, Ahmad Bawa, B M Haneef, B M Ali, Hamzatullah Kuvenda, Dr Maksud Ahmad, Abid Beary, Siddiq Beary, Nisar Ahmad, Asif Usman T K, Firoz Ahmad, Shamsuddeen Aduru, Abdul Khadar Munchuru, Ashraf Kodi, T K Muhammad Shareef and Waheed Kayirkan are significant among those who struggled for the foundation of the association and its subsequent achievements.

Currently the Bearys Welfare Association is headed by B M Farooq as its president and Muhammad Shareef T K as its General Secretary.
