Haji M.P. Ismailabba Pare
1922 – 2009
Haji M.P. Ismailabba, born in 1922 to Pare Alikunhi Beary and Kinya Kuriya Fathima in the vicinity of Manjanadi in Bantwala Taluk of Dakshina Kannada District, pursued his education up to Intermediate schooling. However, upon the demise of his father, he curtailed his studies and dedicated himself to agriculture. Inheriting 24 acres of land from his father in Idner of Kollamogar village in Sullia taluk, he primarily engaged in the cultivation of groundnuts and coconuts. Additionally, he remained active in farming activities in Manjanadi and Naringana village, earning recognition for his endeavors in improved paddy cultivation, for which he received an award.
His service to the community extended to religious and social spheres. Ismailabba held pivotal positions at the Manjanadi Central Juma Masjid, serving as its General Secretary and Vice President for 35 years. Moreover, he played a foundational role in establishing the Bisuri Badria Juma Masjid in Kollamogaru village and served as its president for an impressive tenure of 39 years.
Ismailabba entered public service by being elected as a member of the Harihara Gram Panchayat Board of Kollamogar in Sulya taluk during the Madras Government era, starting from 1956. Additionally, in 1958, he embarked on the sacred pilgrimage of Hajj along with his wife, Nafee Nafeesa.
In the remote and barren areas of Kallarakodi, Chowka, Meenangodi, Kudumbaleguri, and Nettila in Naringana village, also known as ‘Honneyadi’ in Bantwala Taluk, Haji M.P. Ismailabba initiated the establishment of a school in 1963. Initially, he took in a few children in his own home and commenced teaching. Utilizing the furniture available in his house, he improvised as classroom amenities. Subsequently, he constructed a school building on his personal land adjacent to his residence. After four years, he contributed to the construction of a school building on government land, essentially doubling the government grant with his own funds. Additionally, he personally financed the operation of the school for approximately 40 years, demonstrating his commitment to education. The school celebrated its golden jubilee on January 25, 2014.
In recognition of his pioneering efforts, Haji Abusalih Pare, the eldest son of the founder, was honored with a commendation letter by the School Development Committee, acknowledging the invaluable contributions of his father to the establishment and development of the school.
Ismailabba Pare, who served as the president of Naringana village panchayat from 1968 to 1978, dedicated himself tirelessly to the betterment of his community, transcending barriers of caste and religion.
Following a life lived with purpose and dedication, Ismailabba Pare passed away on June 29, 2009, leaving behind his wife, seven sons, and three daughters.
