Haji M.K. Abdullah Kudroli

Haji M.K. Abdullah, fondly known as the “Interrupter,” was born on March 3, 1933, as the second son of Ahmad and Zulekha in Kudroli, Mangalore. His early education took place at the Urdu Senior Primary School in Kudroli, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. Abdullah’s commitment to social service began during his teenage years, setting the stage for a lifetime dedicated to community upliftment.
After marrying Nafeesa, the couple was blessed with five daughters and three sons. Abdullah’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish the construction company “Al Amin Construction” in partnership with his childhood friend Zakaria. Through hard work and dedication, the company quickly earned the trust of the people and became renowned for constructing numerous significant buildings in Mangalore. Alongside his ventures in construction, Abdullah also founded “MBD” in Kudroli, further contributing to the development of his community.
Despite facing challenges and even death threats, Abdullah remained steadfast in his fight against the social scourge of dowry. His commitment to social justice endeared him to many, earning him respect and admiration from all quarters of society.
In the field of education, Abdullah made significant contributions as the founder president of the Islamia Association (R), established in 1966 with the aim of providing religious education to Muslim children. The institution he built, now known as Brit Model School, continues to serve as a beacon of learning, providing quality education to approximately 450 students.
Beyond his involvement in education, Abdullah actively participated in various community organizations, leaving an indelible mark on the town’s social fabric. His leadership, vision, and tireless efforts continue to inspire generations.
On October 4, 1996, Haji M.K. Abdullah left behind a legacy of service and dedication, remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
