M.S. Moosa Musliyar Kakkinje

Senior scholar M.S. Moosa Musliyar Kakkinje was born on June 12, 1944, to Muhammad Sunnamule and Sakeena in Kanakamajalu, Sullia taluk. He received his primary education in his village and became a disciple of renowned scholars such as Shamsul Ulama E.K. Abubakar Musliyar and Ullal Thangal, earning the title of Alim.

A distinguished orator, Moosa Musliyar pursued his religious studies in various institutes across Kerala, becoming one of the leading scholars in the state. He served as a Khatib/Mudaris in various mosques across Dakshina Kannada District for approximately 35 years, earning a large following and dedicating himself to the welfare of society.

Upon his marriage, Moosa Musliyar settled in his wife’s hometown of Kakkinje, where he served as the President of the Beltangady Taluk Jamiyatul Ulama Sanghagan for an extended period. He tirelessly worked for the holistic development of the communities he served, playing a pivotal role in establishing mosques and madrasas in numerous locations.

Musa Musliyar passed away on May 11, 2001, while serving in a mosque in Chikmagalur district. He is survived by his wife Asia, six sons, and four daughters. His eldest son, Dr. M.S.M. Abdurashid Zani Kamil Sakhafi, is a renowned orator and a promising scholar, carrying forward his father’s legacy with distinction.
