Early Life and Career
Mr. Mohammed Athavullah famed as Athavullah Jokatte was born on 7th February, 1970. Being second eldest among nine sons of Abdul Rahman Bava and Zainaba, he was born in Jokatte. Completing his college education at Badriya college, Mangalore, Athavullah joined hands in his father’s garments trade and wholesale marketing.
He did his primary schooling at Sri Rama higher Primary school Farangipete, which is his paternal ancestral place. Later the higher primary education was completed at Govt. higher primary school Jokatte and Highschool at Pejavara High school, Kalavar, Mangalore. Mr. Athavullah post ten years of business experience with his father, began his own construction firm named ‘A.J. CONSTRUCTIONS and Building material supplies’ and is the CEO of the same.
Family
Athavullah Jokatte married at the age of 27 to Fathimabi, daughter of Abdul Hameed and Ayesha, Chokkabettu, Surathkal. Mr.Athavullah is a proud father of four children and a great family man. Currently, Athavullah is a resident of Bajpe.
Socio- Educational and literary contributions
From his early twenties itself Muhammad Athavullah was enthusiastic on socio- literary activities. During college phase, Athavullah contributed several literary pieces like that of articles, stories and poems. He was also the editor of ‘Al-Azhar’, the regional quarterly which aimed at reforms and revolutions in his village, Jokatte.
He served as a president of ‘Old Students Association’- Jokatte govt. primary school, executive member of Jokatte Muslim Nagarika kriya samithi and also was an active member of ‘Indian Peace Keepers’.
His remarkable contribution in literary field is also seen through his active participation serving as general secratary in ‘Beary Sahitya Mattu Samskritika Sangha” – Maikala, lead by Basheer Baikampady, Muhammad Kulai and Muhammad Ali.
In the field of education too Athavullah left a remarkable imprint. He was an executive member of Muhiyaddin Juma masjid Jokatte, member of the prestigious Anjuman Quwwatul Islam organization, Jokatte and also served as
an Assistant correspondent of Anjuman English medium school and P.U college, Jokatte for two terms.
Hailing from a downtrodden Muslim community, Athavullah always aimed at working on the upliftment of the downtrodden and serving the society better, on its socio-political needs.
It was then, the Karnataka Forum Dignity (KFD) came into the picture. Athavullah was deeply moved by the activities of KFD. With his immense hard-work, adaptability, commitment, organizational and leadership skills, Athavullah was elected as the district president of KFD. Later on, KFD merged with two south Indian organizations and formed as PFI (Popular front of India).
Athavullah believed that politics is the strongest key in the upliftment of the society. With this, he joined the SDPI party in the year 2009. In the party he coronated the positions such as, Dist. General secretary, Dist. Vice President and also served as Dist. President for four years. Currently he is serving as a state committee member of SDPI- Karnataka state.
Athavullah is also a Life time member of ‘Indian Red Cross Society’
Interests and Associations
Apart from being a hardworking professional, Mr. Mohammed Athavullah takes pleasure in reading, writing, meeting intellectuals and taking part in social activities.
