The Presidency Group of Institutions, established in the year 1976, has been contributing to the cause of education in the State of Karnataka for nearly five decades now.

The Group which was founded in 1976 with just four students at a rental house has grown from strength to strength with the relentless efforts of Dr. Nissar Ahmed. Working with zeal and enthusiasm, Dr Nissar Ahmed mobilized a team of talented and proactive members which led to Presidency’s phenomenal growth, manifesting in the creation of 8 Schools and 3 Colleges thus holding a key position in the field of education in India.

The feather in the cap was the establishment of PRESIDENCY UNIVERSITY in 2013. This is one of the fastest growing Private Universities in the Country with eight full-fledged schools for different discipline like Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Management, Law, Design, Commerce, Information Science and Media Studies with Undergraduate, Post Graduate and Doctorate Programs, with state of the art infrastructure in a sprawling Campus of 90 acres in Bangalore. The Presidency Institutions, collectively have around 30,000 Students and over 3000 teaching and non-teaching professionals.

The charity arm of the group, the Presidency Foundation offers Scholarships and Fee Concessions to deserving students as also children of serving and ex-defense personnel besides offering Vocational Training and placement to under privileged children.

Dr Nissar Ahmed was listed amongst the Fifty leading “Edupreneurs” in the Country by Education World Magazine in 2013 and has been bestowed with many prestigious awards and accolades like “The Doyen – Guardian of knowledge” Award by The Hindu Group in 2017 and Lifetime Achievement Award by Education World Magazine in 2019.

However, the crowning glory is the Honorary Doctorate that the Bangalore City University bestowed on him recently in recognition of his stellar contribution to the field of education.
