Early Life

K. Ashraf was born on November 15, 1966, to Ibrahim and Beefathima. He resides in Binder, Mangalore, and has built a notable career as both a fisherman and politician.

Political Journey

Ashraf’s political journey began in 1997 when he was elected as a Manapa Ward Member of the Congress Party from Bunder Ward in the Municipal Corporation Elections. He was re-elected from the same ward in 2002. During his tenure, he was appointed as the Standing Committee Chairman of MCC City Development. In 2005-06, he achieved a significant milestone when he was elected as the Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation, a position reserved for a Backward Class A candidate at that time. Following the reservation of Bunder Ward for women, Ashraf contested from the Mangalore Port Ward.

In 2012, he was elected as the President of the Mangaluru City Congress Block. Throughout his political career, Ashraf has taken a leadership role in addressing and resolving various issues affecting the Muslim community, earning a reputation for his strong public relations skills.

Currently, he serves as the District Vice President of a major national political party and is the President of D.K. Zilla Muslim Okkuta.

Social Service

Ashraf’s community involvement is extensive. He serves as the Vice President of the Central Jumma Masjid Bunder and the Mangalore Muslim Central Committee, and as the Chairman of Kandath Palli Masjid. Additionally, he is the Vice President of the Madrasa Management of Al Azariya and the President of the Mangalore Dhakke Fish Sellers Association. He is also an organizer of the Mangalore Harmony Organization and the Honorary President of the Mangalore Social Service Centre. Furthermore, he co-convenes the Saint Mother Teresa Forum and is a consultant with Bunder Friends.

Ashraf is widely recognized for his contributions to the community and his efforts in solving critical issues. His active participation in various struggles and initiatives addressing basic public concerns has earned him a great deal of respect and recognition.
