Prof. S. Abdul Khader is fondly remembered as the Principal of Mangalore’s Badria College, where he fostered a sense of pride and camaraderie among students. His dedication and efforts created an environment at Badria College that left a lasting impact on both the institution and its students.

Abdul Khader was born on December 10, 1948, to K. Fakirabba Beary and Aisamma in Satadka, Karopadi village of Bantwala taluk. His early education was at Government Senior Primary School, Mittanadka, followed by studies at Government High School, Kanyana, and PUC at Government PU College, Kanyana. He completed his graduation from Sant Philomena College, Puttur, and earned an MA in Economics from Manasa Gangotri, Mysore.

Abdul Khader began his career as a lecturer at Government Pre-University College in Uppinangady. When Badria Pre-University College was established in Mangalore, he was specially requested by the college management to serve as its principal. He accepted the role and worked tirelessly to promote educational awareness among the Muslim youth of Mangalore. He ensured that students from the rural areas surrounding Mangalore also had access to education at Badria College.

Prof. Khader was instrumental in the establishment of numerous educational and social institutions. He served as the General Secretary of the first term of “Jamiyyatul Falah,” an organization that sparked an educational revolution in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Alongside the notable social worker Muhammad Kunhi, he led efforts to open schools in four rural areas of the district. He also played a key role in founding the Muslim Education Trust, one of his dream projects.

Abdul Khader passed away on September 30, 1990, while still in service at the age of 52. Despite his early death, his achievements were significant and far-reaching. He was known as an excellent speaker and left behind a son and a daughter.

ಪ್ರಿನ್ಸಿಪಾಲ್ ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಬದ್ರಿಯಾ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಪ್ರಿನ್ಸಿಪಾಲ್ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದೊಡನೆ ತಟ್ಟನೆ ನೆನಪಾಗುವುದು ಪ್ರೊ. ಎಸ್. ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಖಾದರ್. ಬದ್ರಿಯಾ ಕಾಲೇಜಿಗೂ ಪ್ರೊ. ಎಸ್. ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಖಾದರ್‌ಗೂ ಅಂತಹ ಆತ್ಮೀಯ ಸಂಬಂಧವಿತ್ತು, ಒಡನಾಟವಿತ್ತು. ಬದ್ರಿಯಾ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯಿತ್ತು. ಅಂತಹ ವಾತಾವರಣವನ್ನು ಪ್ರೊ. ಎಸ್. ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಖಾದರ್ ರೂಪಿಸಿದ್ದರು ಎಂದರೆ ತಪ್ಪಾಗಲಾರದು.
ಬಂಟ್ವಾಳ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಕರೋಪಾಡಿ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಸಾತಡ್ಕ ಎಂಬಲ್ಲಿನ ಕೆ. ಫಕೀರಬ್ಬ ಬ್ಯಾರಿ-ಐಸಮ್ಮ ದಂಪತಿಯ ಪುತ್ರನಾಗಿ 1948ರ ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 10ರಂದು ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಖಾದರ್ ಜನಿಸಿದರು.
ಮಿತ್ತನಡ್ಕದ ಸರಕಾರಿ ಹಿರಿಯ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 1ರಿಂದ 7ನೆ ತರಗತಿ, ಕನ್ಯಾನದ ಸರಕಾರಿ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 8ರಿಂದ 10ನೆ ತರಗತಿ, ಕನ್ಯಾನದ ಸರಕಾರಿ ಪಿಯು ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಿಯುಸಿ ಮತ್ತು ಪುತ್ತೂರಿನ ಸಂತ ಫಿಲೋಮಿನಾ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪದವಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಮಾನಸ ಗಂಗೋತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂಎ (ಅರ್ಥಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ) ಸ್ನಾತಕೋತ್ತರ ಪದವಿ ಪಡೆದರು.

ಬಳಿಕ ಉಪ್ಪಿನಂಗಡಿಯ ಸರಕಾರಿ ಪದವಿ ಪೂರ್ವ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕನಾಗಿ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದರು. ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬದ್ರಿಯಾ ಪದವಿ ಪೂರ್ವ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಗೊಂಡಾಗ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಆಡಳಿತ ಮಂಡಳಿಯ ವಿಶೇಷ ವಿನಂತಿಯ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ಬದ್ರಿಯಾ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಲು ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಖಾದರ್ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದರು. ಹಾಗೇ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂ ಯುವ ಜನಾಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರಮಿಸಿದರು. ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಆಸುಪಾಸಿನ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಭಾಗದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಬದ್ರಿಯಾ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಪಡೆಯುವಂತೆ ನೋಡಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಅನೇಕ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ಅವರು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸಿದರು. ಆ ಪೈಕಿ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮತ್ತು ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಕ್ರಾಂತಿ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದ್ದ “ಜಂ ಇಯ್ಯತುಲ್ ಫಲಾಹ್’ನ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಅವಧಿಯ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅಂದಿನ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವಕ ಮುಹಮ್ಮದ್ ಕುಂಞಿ ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಜೊತೆಗೂಡಿ ಪ್ರೊ. ಎಸ್. ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಖಾದರ್ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಕಡೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಲೆ ತೆರೆಯಲು ಕಾರಣಕರ್ತರಾದರು. ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂ ಎಜುಕೇಶನ್ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟ್‌ನ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ ಕೂಡ ಪ್ರೊ. ಎಸ್. ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಖಾದರ್‌ರ ಕನಸಿನ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಸರಕಾರಿ ಹುದ್ದೆಯಿಂದ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗೆ ನಿಯೋಜನೆ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದ ಪ್ರೊ. ಎಸ್. ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಖಾದರ್ ಮತ್ತೆ ಸರಕಾರಿ ಸೇವೆಗೆ ಮರಳಿದರು. ಹಾಗೇ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಬಲ್ಮಠದ ಸರಕಾರಿ ಪದವಿ ಪೂರ್ವ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕನಾಗಿ ಸೇವೆ ಮುಂದುವರಿಸಿದರು. 1990ರ ಸೆಪ್ಟಂಬರ್ 30ರಂದು ಕರ್ತವ್ಯದ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲೇ ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಖಾದರ್ ನಿಧನರಾದರು. ಅವರು ಬದುಕಿದ್ದು ಕೇವಲ 52 ವರ್ಷ. ಆದರೆ ಅವರ ಸಾಧನೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಅಪಾರ. ಸಮುದಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸಿದ್ದ ಪ್ರೊ. ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಖಾದರ್ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ಭಾಷಣಕಾರರೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಪತ್ನಿ, ಒಬ್ಬ ಪುತ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ಒಬ್ಬ ಪುತ್ರಿ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ.
