K.S. Ameer Ahmed Thumbay, born on April 21, 1975, was the son of KS Savunhi Haji and Aishamma, a prominent businessman from Thumbay. He completed his early education at Thumbay Government School and attended Badria School in Mangalore for his 8th to 10th grades. Instead of pursuing higher education, Ameer joined his father’s business ventures and planned to establish his own. Despite his business aspirations, he was deeply engaged in social and political activities.

During his student years, Ameer was active in the Congress party and served as the state vice-president of the Congress Labor Division (INTUC). He was known for his boldness in speaking out against injustices faced by his community, even within his own party, and had strong connections with senior Congress politicians in Delhi. Ameer was involved in various political, social, and religious initiatives, participating in many significant movements.

He gained widespread recognition for his efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, organizing teams to provide continuous food supplies to impoverished families affected by the crisis. In response to the challenges faced by the Muslim community, Ameer founded the Karnataka Muslim Justice Forum and served as its founding president. He was known for his generosity and support for people of all castes and religions.

In 2016, the International Tamil University awarded him an honorary doctorate in recognition of his social service in politics. Ameer dedicated his life to aiding COVID-19 patients and supporting communities during the lockdown, showing immense commitment and potential in the political arena. However, his dreams were cut short by the pandemic.

Ameer Ahmed Thumbay passed away on July 23, 2021, at a private hospital in Mangalore after a brief illness. He is survived by his father, wife, two daughters, and a son. His last rites were performed at the Juma Masjid in Valavoor, Thumbay.

ಅನ್ಯಾಯದ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಧ್ವನಿ ಎತ್ತುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಕೆ.ಎಸ್. ಅಮೀರ್ ಅಹ್ಮದ್ ತುಂಬೆ

ತುಂಬೆಯ ಹಿರಿಯ ಉದ್ಯಮಿ ಕೆ.ಎಸ್. ಸಾವುಂಞಿ ಹಾಜಿ-ಆಯಿಶಮ್ಮ ದಂಪತಿಯ ಪುತ್ರನಾಗಿ 1975ರ ಎಪ್ರಿಲ್ 21ರಂದು ಕೆ.ಎಸ್. ಅಮೀರ್ ಅಹ್ಮದ್ ತುಂಬೆ ಜನಿಸಿದರು. ತುಂಬೆಯ ಸರಕಾರಿ ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 1ರಿಂದ 7ನೆ ತರಗತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಬದ್ರಿಯಾ ವಿದ್ಯಾಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 8ರಿಂದ 10ನೆ ತರಗತಿವರೆಗೆ ಕಲಿತರು. ಬಳಿಕ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಮುಂದುವರಿಸಲು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ವಹಿಸದೆ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಉದ್ಯಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ತನ್ನದೇ ಆದ ಸ್ವಂತ ಉದ್ಯಮ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಗೆ ಯೋಜನೆ ರೂಪಿಸಿದರೂ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ, ರಾಜಕೀಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಕ್ರಿಯರಾದ ಕಾರಣ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಶಸ್ಸು ಕಾಣದಾದರು.
ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲೇ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಪಕ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಕ್ರಿಯರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅಮೀರ್ ತುಂಬೆ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಕಾರ್ಮಿಕ ವಿಭಾಗ (ಇಂಟಕ್)ದ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಪಕ್ಷದಿಂದ ಸಮುದಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಅನ್ಯಾಯವಾದಾಗ ಪಕ್ಷದ ಒಳಗಿದ್ದುಕೊಂಡು ಧ್ವನಿ ಎತ್ತುವ ಛಾತಿ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದ ಅಮೀರ್ ತುಂಬೆ ಪಕ್ಷದ ದೆಹಲಿ ಮಟ್ಟದ ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿಗಳ ಜೊತೆ ನಿಕಟ ಸಂಪರ್ಕ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರು. ರಾಜಕೀಯ, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ, ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲೂ ಸಕ್ರಿಯರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅಮೀರ್ ತುಂಬೆ ಅನೇಕ ಜನಪರ ಹೋರಾಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
ಕೊರೋನ ಅಲೆಯಿಂದ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಗಾದ ಬಡ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳಿಗೆ ತಂಡವನ್ನು ರಚಿಸಿ ನಿರಂತರ ಆಹಾರ ಸಾಮಗ್ರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಮನೆ ಮಾತಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸುವ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮ್ ಜಸ್ಟೀಸ್ ಫೋರಂ ಸಂಘಟನೆಯನ್ನು ಹುಟ್ಟು ಹಾಕಿ ಅದರ ಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿಯೂ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜಾತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಧರ್ಮದವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅನನ್ಯತೆಯಿಂದ ಇದ್ದ ಅಮೀರ್ ತುಂಬೆ ಕೊಡುಗೈ ದಾನಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದರು. ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಮೀರ್ ತುಂಬೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ 2016ರಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂಟರ್ ನ್ಯಾಷನಲ್ ತಮಿಳು ಯುನಿವರ್ಸಿಟಿಯು ಗೌರವ ಡಾಕ್ಟರೇಟ್ ಪದವಿ ನೀಡಿತ್ತು. ಕೊರೋನ ಸಂದರ್ಭ ಕೋವಿಡ್ ರೋಗಿಗಳ ಆರೈಕೆ, ಲಾಕ್‌ಡೌನ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ತತ್ತರಿಸಿದ್ದ ಜನಸಾಮಾನ್ಯರ ನೆರವಿಗೆ ಧಾವಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ತನ್ನ ಬದುಕನ್ನು ಮೀಸಲಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ ಅಮೀರ್ ತುಂಬೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ರಾಜಕಾರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಿಂಚುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಅವಕಾಶಗಳೂ ಇತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಕೋವಿಡ್-19 ಅವರ ಕನಸನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತುಕೊಂಡಿತು ಎನ್ನಬಹುದು.
ಕೆಲವು ದಿನಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಅಸೌಖ್ಯದಿಂದ ಬಳಲಿದ್ದ ಅಮೀರ್ ತುಂಬೆ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆ, ಪತ್ನಿ, ಇಬ್ಬರು ಪುತ್ರಿಯರು, ಓರ್ವ ಪುತ್ರನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು 2021ರ ಜುಲೈ 23ರಂದು ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಧನರಾದರು. ತುಂಬೆಯ ವಳವೂರು ಜುಮಾ ಮಸೀದಿಯ ಖಬರಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂತ್ಯಕ್ರಿಯೆ ನೆರವೇರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
