1956 – 2023

Dr. Sulaiman BH, born in 1956 at Bhandara Pade, was the eldest son of Hakeem Shekhabba and Khatijamma from Harekala village. He was among the first students to pass the SSLC examination at Sri Ramakrishna High School in Harekala and graduated as an RMP from the Karnataka Ayurveda and Unani Practitioners Board in 1980.

Dr. Sulaiman began his medical career under the guidance of his father, Hakeem Shekhabba, and father-in-law, Dr. Hammabba. He opened “Shafi Healthcare” clinics in Deralkatte and Madaka and later established a clinic at KC Road, Manjanadi. He was credited with providing essential medical services to the Deralkatte area starting in 1980. Alongside his medical practice, Dr. Sulaiman was involved in social service, showing particular concern for the poor.

From 1982 to 1998, he served as the secretary of Kundur Juma Masjid in Amblamogaru village and from 1998 to 2008 as the mosque’s president. He was also the Chairman of the Derlakate Range Madrasa Management from 2002 to 2014 and the Chairman of Umarul Farooq Juma Masjid in Badyar from 2001 to 2009. His commitment to community service extended to organizing free health camps and providing assistance to the needy.

In 2009, the Mangalore Doctors Association honored Dr. Sulaiman for his humanitarian and gentlemanly service. He passed away on March 7, 2023, and is survived by his wife Fatimabi, four sons, and one daughter. His sons Sharif and Tauseef are engineers, while Dr. Mukhtaf and Dr. Ashraf have continued his medical legacy. His daughter Niaf resides in Sulya.

ಹರೇಕಳ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ವೈದ್ಯ ಹಕೀಂ ಶೇಖಬ್ಬ-ಖತೀಜಮ್ಮ ದಂಪತಿಯ ಹಿರಿಯ ಪುತ್ರನಾಗಿ 1956ರಲ್ಲಿ ಭಂಡಾರ ಪಾದೆ ಎಂಬಲ್ಲಿ ಡಾ. ಸುಲೈಮಾನ್ ಬಿ.ಎಚ್. ಜನಿಸಿದರು. ಹರೇಕಳದ ಶ್ರೀರಾಮಕೃಷ್ಣ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲೆಯ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಬ್ಯಾಚ್‌ನ ಎಸೆಸೆಲ್ಸಿ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೇರ್ಗಡೆ ಹೊಂದಿದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರಾದ ಡಾ. ಸುಲೈಮಾನ್ 1980ರಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಆಯುರ್ವೇದ ಆ್ಯಂಡ್ ಯುನಾನಿ ಪ್ರಾಕ್ಟೀಶಿಯಸ್ ಬೋರ್ಡ್‌ನಿಂದ ಆರ್‌ಎಂಪಿ ಪದವಿ ಪಡೆದರು.

ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆ ಹಕೀಂ ಶೇಖಬ್ಬ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾವ ಡಾ. ಹಮ್ಮಬ್ಬ ಅವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ವೈದ್ಯ ವೃತ್ತಿ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದ ಡಾ. ಸುಲೈಮಾನ್ ದೇರಳಕಟ್ಟೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮದಕದಲ್ಲಿ “ಶಾಫಿ ಹೆಲ್ತ್‌ಕೇರ್” ಎಂಬ ಕ್ಲಿನಿಕ್ ತೆರೆದರು. ಬಳಿಕ ಕೆ.ಸಿ.ರೋಡ್, ಮಂಜನಾಡಿಯಲ್ಲೂ ಕ್ಲಿನಿಕ್ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದರು. 1980ರಲ್ಲಿ ದೇರಳಕಟ್ಟೆ ಪರಿಸರದಲ್ಲಿ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಸೇವೆ ನೀಡಿದ ಕೀರ್ತಿಯೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಇದೆ. ವೃತ್ತಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಬಡವರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅಪಾರ ಕಾಳಜಿ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರು. 1982ರಿಂದ 1998ರವರೆಗೆ ಅಂಬ್ಲಮೊಗರು ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಕುಂಡೂರು ಜುಮಾ ಮಸೀದಿಯ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಯಾಗಿ, 1998ರಿಂದ 2008ರವರೆಗೆ ಮಸೀದಿಯ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದರು. 2002ರಿಂದ 2014ರವರೆಗೆ ದೇರಳಕಟ್ಟೆ ರೇಂಜ್ ಮದ್ರಸ ಮ್ಯಾನೇಜ್ಮೆಂಟ್‌ನ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ, 2001ರಿಂದ 2009ರವರೆಗೆ ಬದ್ಯಾರ್‌ನ ಉಮರುಲ್ ಫಾರೂಕ್ ಜುಮಾ ಮಸೀದಿಯ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಅದಲ್ಲದೆ ಹಲವು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ, ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ, ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಕ್ರಿಯರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅನೇಕ ಉಚಿತ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಶಿಬಿರಗಳನ್ನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಿ ಅಸಹಾಯಕರಿಗೆ ನೆರವು ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು.
ಸರಳ ಸಜ್ಜನಿಕೆಯ, ಮಾನವೀಯ ಕಾಳಜಿ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದ ಅವರ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ವೈದ್ಯರ ಸಂಘವು 2009ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಿತ್ತು. 2023ರ ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 7ರಂದು ನಿಧನರಾದ ಅವರು ಪತ್ನಿ ಫಾತಿಮಾಬಿ ಮತ್ತು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಮಂದಿ ಪುತ್ರರು ಹಾಗೂ ಓರ್ವ ಪುತ್ರಿಯನ್ನು ಅಗಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಪುತ್ರರಾದ ಶರೀಫ್ ಮತ್ತು ತೌಸೀಫ್ ವೃತ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂಜಿನಿಯರ್ ಆಗಿದ್ದರೆ, ಪುತ್ರರಾದ ಡಾ. ಮುಖ್ತಾಫ್ ಮತ್ತು ಡಾ. ಅಶ್ರಫ್ ವೈದ್ಯ ವೃತ್ತಿ ಮುಂದುವರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಪುತ್ರಿ ನಿಯಾಫ್ ಸುಳ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
