Fakhruddin, born on July 2, 1960, to Sekunha Beary and Mariamma in Poovanibettu, Iruvailu village of Mudubidre taluk, was a prolific storyteller with a wealth of life experiences and a natural inclination towards writing. Though his formal education was limited, his knack for storytelling and his depth of life experience fueled his literary pursuits.

He embarked on his literary journey in 1985, contributing stories to leading newspapers in the country. However, it wasn’t until 2001 that his first work, “Elliruve Nanna Kanda?” (a collection of stories), was published. This was followed by the release of “Halima Akshara Kalitadu,” another collection of stories, by Navkarnataka Prakashan in the same year. Over the years, Fakhruddin continued to pen stories and novels, though he took his time in publishing them. Notably, in 2012, he published the story collection “Avasana” and the novel “Badukemba Maya.”

Subsequent years saw the publication of several more works, including “Mukhwada” (2015), “Anireekshita” (2010), “Nadira” (2010), “Halima” (2011), “Nombala” (2010), and “Kirfa” (2015). In 2019, “Moonu Mini Novel” was added to his literary repertoire.

Fakhruddin’s contributions to literature were recognized with the Muslim Literature Award in 2001 for his work “Halima Akshara Kalitaddu.” Additionally, in 2015, he received the “Beary Siri” award from Alwas Nudisiri.

Despite his literary achievements, Fakhruddin struggled with feelings of inferiority stemming from his rural upbringing, leading to introspection and a reluctance to engage extensively in literary circles. He preferred solitude and self-expression through his writing, which reflected his sensitive and introspective nature.

Fakhruddin passed away on August 1, 2020, leaving behind his wife and three daughters. While he may no longer be with us, his stories and novels endure, offering insights into his nuanced and shy personality.
