Haji B.M. Hussain, affectionately known as “Utta Haji” in the Suratkal-Krishnapura area, was a renowned figure deeply embedded in both business and community service. Born on November 20, 1947, in Baikampadi to Mayyaddi Beary and Bibi Umma of Panambur, he left a lasting impact through his multifaceted contributions.

Educated up to SSLC in Vidyadaini School, Suratkal, Haji BM Hussain ventured into the fish, poultry, and lime industries in Krishnapura-Katipalla after moving there. Despite his success as a businessman, his true passion lay in social welfare and education. Known for his commitment to helping the underprivileged, particularly ensuring every child had access to education, he became a pivotal figure in educational initiatives in the region.

Haji BM Hussain’s influence extended beyond business and education. He was instrumental in founding a youth club in Krishnapura and established Chaitanya Vikas Vodhya in 1992. This initiative provided tailoring training to numerous young women, empowering them to achieve self-reliance. Additionally, he played a pivotal role in the establishment and development of Chaitanya Public School, where thousands of children received quality education under his stewardship.

A devout community leader, Haji BM Hussain served as the president of Badria Juma Masjid Muslim Jamaat, 7^th block Krishnapura, for many years. He was also the founding president of Krishnapura Al Badria Educational Institution and held key positions such as Chairman of Krishnapura Government Pre-University College Development Committee and Founder President of Badrul Huda Association.

Haji BM Hussain’s life was marked by his dedication to social causes and community development until his passing on September 19, 2023, at a private hospital in Mangalore. He is survived by his wife, one son, and three daughters. His funeral rites were conducted at the Krishnapura Idga Maidan.

ಶಿಕ್ಷಣಕ್ಕೆ ಉತ್ತೇಜನ ನೀಡಿದ್ದ ಹಾಜಿ ಬಿ.ಎಂ. ಹುಸೈನ್ ಕೃಷ್ಣಾಪುರ

ಸುರತ್ಕಲ್-ಕೃಷ್ಣಾಪುರ ಪರಿಸರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಜಿ ಬಿ.ಎಂ. ಹುಸೈನ್ ಹಾಜಿ ಎಂದು ಯಾರನ್ನಾದರು ಕೇಳಿದರೆ ಉತ್ತರ ಸಿಗುವ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆ ಕಡಿಮೆ. ಆದರೆ ‘ಉತ್ತ ಹಾಜಿ’ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದರೆ ತಕ್ಷಣ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಉತ್ತರಿಸಿಯಾರು. ಯಾಕೆಂದರೆ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯವಾಗಿ ಹಾಜಿ ಬಿ.ಎಂ. ಹುಸೈನ್ ಅವರು “ಉತ್ತ ಹಾಜಿ” ಎಂದೇ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧರು. ಖ್ಯಾತ ಉದ್ಯಮಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಹಾಜಿ ಬಿ.ಎಂ. ಹುಸೈನ್ ಅವರು ಸುರತ್ಕಲ್-ಕೃಷ್ಣಾಪುರ ಪರಿಸರದಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣಕ್ಕೆ ಉತ್ತೇಜನ ನೀಡಿದ್ದ ಪ್ರಮುಖರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಉದ್ಯಮಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಬಡವರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಕಾಳಜಿಯಿತ್ತು. ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ಯಾವ ಮಕ್ಕಳೂ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದಿಂದ ವಂಚಿತರಾಗಬಾರದು ಎಂದು ಅದರಂತೆ ಕಾರ್ಯೋನ್ಮುಖರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಪಣಂಬೂರಿನ ಮಯ್ಯದ್ದಿ ಬ್ಯಾರಿ-ಬೀಬಿ ಉಮ್ಮಾ ದಂಪತಿಯ ಪುತ್ರನಾಗಿ 1947ರ ನವೆಂಬರ್ 20ರಂದು ಬೈಕಂಪಾಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದ ಹಾಜಿ ಬಿ.ಎಂ. ಹುಸೈನ್ ಸುರತ್ಕಲ್‌ನ ವಿದ್ಯಾದಾಯಿನಿ ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎಸೆಸೆಲ್ಸಿವರೆಗೆ ಕಲಿತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆ ಬಳಿಕ ಕೃಷ್ಣಾಪುರ-ಕಾಟಿಪಳ್ಳಕ್ಕೆ ಸ್ಥಳಾಂತರಗೊಂಡು ಮತ್ಸ್ಯ ಉದ್ಯಮ, ಕೋಳಿ ಉದ್ಯಮ, ಸುಣ್ಣ ಉದ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವಕರೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದ ಹಾಜಿ ಬಿ.ಎಂ. ಹುಸೈನ್ ಸಂಘಟನಾ ಚತುರರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೃಷ್ಣಾಪುರದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೂತ್ ಕ್ಲಬ್ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದರು. 1992ರಲ್ಲಿ ಚೈತನ್ಯ ವಿಕಾಸ ವೇದಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿ ಆ ಮೂಲಕ ನೂರಾರು ಯುವತಿಯರಿಗೆ ಟೈಲರಿಂಗ್ ತರಬೇತಿ ಶಿಬಿರ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿ ಅವರು ಸ್ವಾವಲಂಬಿಗಳಾಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ನಂತರ ಚೈತನ್ಯ ಪಬ್ಲಿಕ್ ಸ್ಕೂಲ್ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ವಿದ್ಯಾವಂತರನ್ನಾಗಿಸಿದ ಕೀರ್ತಿಯೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲುತ್ತದೆ. ಕೃಷ್ಣಾಪುರದ ಬದ್ರಿಯಾ ಜುಮಾ ಮಸ್ಜಿದ್ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂ ಜಮಾಅತ್‌ನ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ ಹಲವು ವರ್ಷ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಚೈತನ್ಯ ಪಬ್ಲಿಕ್ ಸ್ಕೂಲ್‌ನ ಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ, ಬಳಿಕ ಕೊನೆಯುಸಿರೆಳೆಯುವವರೆಗೆ ಗೌರವಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಕೃಷ್ಣಾಪುರ ಅಲ್ ಬದ್ರಿಯಾ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ, ಕೃಷ್ಣಾಪುರ ಸರಕಾರಿ ಪದವಿಪೂರ್ವ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ, ಬದ್ರುಲ್ ಹುದಾ ಅಸೋಸಿಯೇಶನ್‌ನ ಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
ಪತ್ನಿ, ಒಬ್ಬ ಪುತ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ಮೂವರು ಪುತ್ರಿಯರನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು 2023ರ ಸೆಪ್ಟಂಬರ್ 19ರಂದು ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಧನರಾದ ಅವರ ಅಂತ್ಯಕ್ರಿಯೆಯು ಕೃಷ್ಣಾಪುರ ಈದ್ಗಾ ಮೈದಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆರವೇರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
