Madman Abubakar Beary

1875 – 1955

Madman Abubakar Beary, born in 1875 to Sufi Beary Umatumma in Madman near Kannangar, Udupi district, was a prominent figure during the Patel era, serving as an important Panchayatdar.

During 1875-1900, under the Patel administration, every town was overseen by Patels. Disputes would be brought to their attention, and they would delegate them to Kinyanna Ballal, Alongside Subbanna Gurikara and Mahesh Hegde, he worked to resolve community issues. His decisions were final, with no room for appeal, but they consistently favored the underprivileged.

In recognition of his service, Kinyanna Ballala granted him property, where Madman became a successful agriculturist. Later, he settled in Kannangar after relinquishing the property. Additionally, he served as the head of the Kannangar Masjid, a role of leadership within the mosque.

Madman Abubakar Beary passed away in 1955 at the age of approximately 80, leaving behind two wives, two sons, and four daughters.
