Raihan V. K. Sacheripete

A Multilingual Writer and Social Activist

Raihan V. K. Sacheripete was born in Mangalore and hails from Veerakamba, a village in Vitla under Bantwala Taluk of Dakshina Kannada. Her father, V. K. Ibrahim, originally from Jeppu in Mangalore city, was a wholesale banana merchant, an Islamic scholar, and a political leader. Her mother, Zainab, is originally from Kerala.

Raihan pursued her education in Islamic studies, completing her Alima course at Wadihuda Islamic Women’s College in Payangadi, and an Ulumul Quran course at Al Jamiya University, Shanthapuram. She also excelled in Arabic Grammar.

A talented writer and poet, Raihan is
proficient in multiple languages, including Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Arabic, English, Tulu, and Beary. Her poems and articles have been published in esteemed journals such as Anupama, Sanmarga, Belkiri, and Beary Varthe. She is also a renowned translator, motivational speaker, and family counselor, actively involved in social work.

Raihan’s contributions during the COVID crisis were highly commendable. Tragically, her husband, Mohammed Haneef, a civil engineer, passed away unexpectedly two years ago. She is a devoted mother of three children: Ahmed Riza Ahnaf, an Aeronautical Engineer; Ahmed Faaza Shabeeb, a third-year student of Clinical Psychology; and Haleema Haneea, a high school student.

An activist with Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Raihan has also participated as a poet in the 2024 Vishwa Kannada Sahithya Sammelana in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. She has appeared as a guest on Eid TV programs and Radio Sarang’s Beary segment. As a mentor to many literary aspirants, she continues to inspire others with her work.

Raihan is fond of traveling and has visited countries such as UAE, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Egypt, and Turkey.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, reciting the Quran and listening to Islamic Speech.
